I had a 14 year family case in my home nation. This really ruined every aspect of mine my kid’s lives, and I was lucky to be able to get out. I wish I had been able to flee sooner, but the applicant had me and the kids in several choke holds. I’m trying to heal some of the ptsd and heal the kids and their ptsd. That’s where my focus should be.
When I came to my new country, I was ok at first, I had a good job and I laid down foundations here. I have been here almost 3 years, and it’s the past 6 months where I’ve become stuck. After a string of unfortunate events (divorce, and my youngest child being diagnosed with several conditions) losing my job, I am in a lot of trouble financially.
This has a knock on impact, as my stay in this new country depends on me being able to support myself here, and living legally. For example, my health insurance is compulsory, and I am breaking the law by not having it, yet I have accrued 5 months worth of arrears and the policy has been cancelled. I need to rectify ASAP before my visa is cancelled due to it. And more worryingly, my youngest child needs urgent assessments for epilepsy, which I can only access with the insurance. If I’m asked to return to my home state, it would be hell, and I could be prosecuted for leaving the country without the permissions of the other party.
The amount I am asking for will help me to get my debts to a manageable level. So that I can manage my own finances going forward.
I need to be here 1 more year, so that my child can return to the home state and overturn a 2014 order, and remove the other person’s parental rights going back to 2014. Then I will no longer have to worry about being prosecuted for leaving the country with the children. In 2 years, I will be able to become a citizen here. So I’m really trying to hang on.
I can manage the monthly payments on my accounts if the backlog can be cleared. I’m not able to access housing or welfare in my new state. So if I’m evicted, I will have to leave the country.
