Help Michele Heerdt

Donation protected
Three weeks ago Michele Heerdt began feeling ill and tired.  She went to the ER and was admitted for testing. Shortly after that she was given the grave news that she had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. They admitted her right away to Roswell where she currently is receiving Chemotherapy for the next three weeks.  Doctors are hoping during this time to build up Michele's strength and immunity. If they are successful, they will start the process of a bone marrow biopsy and start testing for a bone marrow transplant. AML can sometimes be cured or at least kept in remission for long periods of time.  This is the families hope for Michele.

Michele lost her job last year from American Sales, where she was employed for more than 15 years, when they decided to close shop in Buffalo. She had no other choice but to accept a lower paying job to make ends meet. Currently, Michele is out of work on FMLA and unable to collect a paycheck or disability due to her new position. Her partner, Jen, is also out on disability with a fused back. On top of that, several months ago, Michele and Jen made the decision to assume responsibility for Michele's 4 year old niece. Michele also takes care of her mother who had a stroke 20 years ago and is unable to care for herself. As you can imagine this is a lot for any one person who is working let alone someone who is now trying to fight for their own life. Medical bills are starting to come in along with the everyday bills and responsibilities and we are asking all her friends and family to help in any way. Any donation can help relieve some of the burden off of her and her family so that she can focus on regaining her strength and fight this disease.  We forgot to mention that she is looking forward to becoming a first time grandma in the coming months.

At a later date, we will also be asking folks to stop by Roswell and get tested for a possible bone marrow match (Details at a later time).  You never know when you can potentially save a life with such little effort. We want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom our hearts for helping out her family. Cancer sucks and God only knows we have had our fair share.

Thank you/God Bless
Michele's Family
