Help Me Buy A New Wheelchair
Donation protected
I have Amyoplasia, an offset of Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, which leaves me permanently wheelchair bound. My wheelchair is well over five years old, has survived a near fatal car accident, and is currently falling apart. I am holding most of it together with shoe strings and duct tape, but the issues run deeper. There is a malfunction in the relay between the joystick and the motors which causes it to stop randomly, usually in oncoming traffic. The motors are going out on me and it could take anywhere from six months to a year to get it all fixed or to get a new one, entirely. The reason I am requesting assistance is, even if Medicare pays for some of it, it'll only be covered up to 80%. That may seem like a lot, but 20% of $20,000 is a lot of money. I have reuquested this amount because, if I buy my own, I can truly get what I need without having to prove to Medicare that I'm not lying about my condition and the severity of my situation. Any additional money can go toward repairs and upkeep of either the new or current wheelchair, if need be. As it stands, my wheelchair is a danger to me, now, and it's taking so long to get anything going. I run the risk of getting hurt, no one's returning phone calls, and I am at a standstill with all government outlets. If you can help, I would be very appreciative!
