Some of you might know this story and some of you don't. You might be a stranger, but I’m still so glad you’re reading this! I want to share with you some exciting news.
I am marrying my best friend! She is a dream come true! We are getting married in 6 months! Yay!
I want to invite you to partner with us on our journey, but for that I need to share with you where its all started.
By the grace of God I was adopted 12 years ago into a beautiful family here in the US. What some of you may not know is that I left my older sister behind in Ukraine when I came. She graduated from the orphanage and started her own family and has her own life. Her name is Ruslana.
She is one of the most incredible people I know! She saved my life.
I will never be able to repay her for the strength and selfless love she showed me every day we spent on the streets of Ukraine. It was not uncommon for her to give away her portion of food to me when there was not enough for both of us. “Next time.” she would say. But her next time often came days if not weeks later. I was her younger brother. Her responsibility. She loved me fiercely.
Ruslana and I still keep in touch and talk regularly. She has 4 kids, I have only met one of them. Her oldest, Diana. When I started dating Sarah I knew she was the one I wanted to marry. Ruslana and I would talk on the phone and dream about bringing her here to the states for my wedding. We would dream about her meeting my parents, friends, seeing where I live, meeting my future wife. My US family. This dream is still very much alive. That’s where all of you friends come in. I need your help! As many of you know, weddings are expensive. Sarah and I are hoping to bring my sister and her eldest daughter here for a month before our wedding. That way she has time to meet everyone and enjoy the company of family and friends before wedding mania starts. With international tickets and their stay here we think it will cost around $5000. Would you consider sowing into her trip? I cannot tell you how much it would mean to me to have Ruslana and Diana here for one of the biggest days of my life!
