My name is Mickey and I am an Autism mom. Raylan is my 3.5 year old nonverbal son. He has taught our family that there is so much more to communication than just words and if you listen with your heart and not your ears you will enter a world that most people only dream of.
Raylan never utters a word, but he will tell you everything you need to know if only you open your heart.

PECS has opened doors that were locked and chained. Within a year of Raylan learning to use PECS system we have seen his personality bloom. He enjoys exchanging and communicating. PECS has brought a light out in me as his mama as well. I long to help families near me learn how to use PECS. I desire to teach families how to open those doors that are locked deep inside their children.
I wish to start training to be a PECS Implementer. By becoming a PECS Implementer I would learn the proper way to use PECS and to teach the use of PECS. This will help my community significantly because currently there is no training for PECS near us. We have a very limited amount of speech therapist in the early intervention program and local therapy groups, that have the resources and the knowledge to correctly teach PECS.
