Help me 2 help you beat depression

Donation protected
I have severe depression, it is rubbish. It destroys lives and it kills people.
So many people have depression.
It's really common and no-one wants to talk about it. I want to talk about it.

I became really ill around Christmas time, 2016. I could not work during that time (I couldn't eat for a long time or smile), I read every self-help book there was to try and 'fix' myself, I attended weekly (painful) psychotherapy sessions - and still do; I've met some truly amazing people in the support groups at the Recovery College (a place which by the way, saves lives).  I am very pleased to have been accepted as a mental health volunteer at the Recovery College.

I want to smash the stigma around depression and raise funds to get qualified as Mental Health First Aid Instructor. This training can then help businesses (even communities) to appoint their own Mental Health First Aiders. Nobody should carry the weight & shame of suffering with this illness.

The course is provided by Mental Health First Aid England and costs £2, 790. The course consists of 7 days of instruction over 6 weeks. I will then be assessed to prove myself as a competent MHFA Instructor. I will then be able to train Mental Health First Aiders so that they understand mental health; how to spot triggers and signs of mental health issues; be confident to support a person in distress; develop non-judgemental listening and how to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support e.g. self-help, their employer, the NHS, or a mix.

I am already an accomplished trainer in the corporate world of pharmaceuticals, so I know I can do this really well and use my training skills plus my own experience of living with depression to help people.

If there are any businesses that would like to donate, I would happily partner with you when I'm qualified to provide your mental health in the workplace training.  I am based in Hampshire, UK.

At any one time, 1 worker in 6 will be experiencing depression, anxiety or problems relating to stress AND 40% of sickness days taken by employees are related to mental health problems.

Thank you.
