Hey everyone. My name is Maya Reynolds and I am a student at Brown University. I am currently a Junior in college and next semester I have been given the opportunity to study abroad with SIT in India, South Africa, and Brazil. My trip starts in Washington D.C. on 1/14 and I fly out to Delhi, India on 1/29.
My scholarship at Brown covers everything except for room and airfare. Fortunately, the study abroad company has agreed to set up a payment plan, however, the price is still very high and not something that I or my parents will be able to pay off by the deadlines. I work between 25 - 30 hours a week while going to school fulltime. Even though I have a job, I have not been able to save up for the trip and pay off my additional balance. The money I make at work has gone towards visa fees, medical bills from my two concussions, and my tuition for my current semester at Brown.
I owe the program $6500 and $2873.87 to Brown. While abroad I was also hoping to have some spending money besides the stipend that is already built into the program costs. The program recommends $500 - $800 in spending money.
If you could donate anything that you are able and willing to give, this would help greatly to cover the money that I owe this month. Even thought I owe more than $4500, I am only asking for $4500 since I owe Brown $2873.87 by the end of this month and 1300.00 to SIT on 12/15. The additional money would go towards my spending money over the duration of the program. I have tried pushing off asking for money, but the deadlines for the payments are coming up fast.
For those of you in the Providence community, I am a selling my bike, mini-refrigerator, and storage trunk if you would be interested in buying those items from me.
