Help Martin to fight severe acute Pancreatitis
My name is Elizabeth Márquez de Sheehan. Venezuelan resident in Ireland and Martín Márquez's sister.
On Wednesday 22.08.2018 my younger brother Martín, a Venezuelan engineer, was diagnosed with severe acute pancreatitis. An idiopathic diagnosis that surprised us all, since my brother is in good health. Since then, and due to the severe nature of the diagnosis, he has been hospitalized at the Sagrada Familia Clinic in Maracaibo. Martín already had two interventions, including two days in the intensive care unit.
My brother is also a family man, has 2 children and the youngest is his 9-year-old daughter, his main motivation is to recover in order to see her grow up.
What you need to know if you are considering donating:
It is no secret to anyone that the health and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela is extreme. Treatments and procedures are extremely expensive and dollarized, even though Venezuelan citizens do not earn in dollars. In addition, health insurance is now NON EXISTENT, so families must pay for everything themselves, regardless of their situation and without any kind of funding possibilities. If you are Venezuelan you are surely familiar with this situation. If you live abroad you know that it is extremely difficult to help our loved ones. With a lot of effort, our family has spent over 5000 USD so far, for 10 days of hospitalization, interventions and treatments. However, recovery from acute pancreatitis takes time and economics resources.

El Miércoles 22.08.2018 mi hermano menor Martín, ingeniero venezolano, fue diagnosticado con pancreatitis aguda severa. Un diagnóstico idiopático que nos sorprendió a todos, puesto que mi hermano goza de buena salud. Desde entonces, debido a la gravedad del diagnóstico, se encuentra hospitalizado en la Clínica la Sagrada Familia de Maracaibo. Allí ha tenido dos intervenciones, que incluyen dos días en la unidad de cuidados intensivos.
Mi hermano también es cabeza de familia, tiene 2 hijos y la menor tiene solo 9 años, su principal motivación es recuperarse para verlos crecer.

No es secreto para nadie que la crisis humanitaria y de salud en Venezuela es extrema. Los tratamientos y procedimientos son caros y están dolarizados, a pesar de que los ciudadanos venezolanos no ganan en dólares. Adicionalmente los seguros de salud son hoy en día INEXISTENTES, por lo que las familias deben costear todo de su bolsillo. Si eres venezolano ya debes estar familiarizado con esta situación. Si vives en el extranjero sabes que igualmente es difícil ayudar a nuestros seres queridos. Con mucho esfuerzo, nuestra familia ha gastado hasta la fecha más de 5000 USD por 10 días de hospitalización, intervenciones y tratamientos. Sin embargo, la recuperación de una pancreatitis aguda consume rápidamente tiempo y recursos.
