Help Mally the Husky Puppy!

Mally is a year old husky who has had a rough start. When he was 5 months old, Shadow Husky Rescue saved him from SEAACA in Downey, CA where he was constantly crying in his kennel. Right after he was rescued, he was rushed into emergency surgery to remove wire, barbed plastic, a corn cob and other foreign material that was in his stomach and intestines. We think he was eating whatever he could to survive, yet it was killing him. After his life saving surgery he wasn’t walking properly and has needed two knee surgeries to reattach his knee caps. Due to his rough start he’s developed a liver shunt that was scheduled to be operated on on July 30 at UC Davis. Once at UC Davis, they discovered that his right knee was infected to the bone and that the prior surgery had not set right due to a birth deformity of his right leg.

The decision was either re-constructive surgery which would leave Mally with discomfort for the rest of his life or amputation. Mally had his hind right leg amputated on July 31. 

Mally had his Liver Shunt Operation on August 27th at UC Davis. He did wonderfully and is now living a normal life with his foster and his bonded "sister" Laska. He is back on a normal diet but will need his omeprazole (antacid) medication every day for the rest of his life. He is running, playing, and being the silliest husky he can be. 

Shadow Husky Rescue stepped up for this boy and took on his medical bills even though they have put the rescue in great debt. Mally’s expenses over the course of his medical treatments are over $30,000 and we still need your help to pay off these bills that have saved Mally's life.

The next step for Mally and Laska is to find them a loving forever home that can keep them together and give them the lives they deserve!
