Help Liz and Steph Start a Grooming Shop

Donation protected
Liz and Stephanie have come to a point in their lives where they are ready to pursue their dream of starting a small business. As their mother I am asking for your help!
My creative, intelligent, and hard-working daughters would like to open their own dog grooming shop and boutique. Many of you already know that my girls have inherited my love and passion for animals.
Elizabeth has been professionally grooming dogs for 6 years and Stephanie has graduated with a degree in accounting. Together they plan to own and operate a high end business that is bound to be a success.  "Spike Dog Grooming and Boutique" will be born in Biddeford, Maine on or around April 2019.
The girls have been working hard and have secured funding from a variety of sources but aren't quite there yet.
$3000 would go towards the purchases of their larger equipment as well as the smaller supplies needed to get them up and running.
If monetary donations are not your style, the girls have also created an Amazon wishlist of items they could use for the shop

Thank you for helping my girls make their dream come true!
If you would like more information, please feel free to read the excerpts from their business plan below.

"Objective and Values

The objective of our business, Spike Dog Grooming and Boutique, is to bring a high value grooming experience to the downtown Biddeford Maine area, as well as providing a boutique pet shop with a curated selection of unique products for Biddeford’s doggy residents.

Giving each client’s pet the best spa experience customized to the needs of the pet and of the client, having every dog walk out with a top quality ‘tweetable’  trim , and building ongoing relationships with the pet and the pet parent are the values our business will live by.

Business Idea

Spike Dog Grooming and Boutique is a high end spa for dogs featuring luxury spa services, customized bathing and skin care ,  and skilled styling to breed standard show trims and modern grooming styles - something that is not currently being offered in downtown Biddeford. Our shop will also feature ‘Pet Parking’ , a pay by the hour service where our clients can drop their dogs off with us while they pop into the other local shops on Main St. that do not allow pets into the building.

The benefits of the spa experience is giving the client a sense of security knowing they are leaving their pet in the hands of a trained professional, and knowing their pet is getting the very best and is truly being pampered. The benefits continue as they get to show off the stunning quality haircut their dog has received, in person and by use of our beautiful end-of-groom photo that can be shared across all social media platforms.

All grooming will be done in the shop with flexible drop off and pickup times to accommodate a variety of clients. Those who commute to work  will find it convenient to drop their dog off for their grooming on the way to work, and pick them back up on their way home. Meanwhile residence of Biddeford who would prefer a shorter stay at the spa can easily schedule an express groom.

The boutique retail section of the shop will feature pet items that are not available anywhere else locally. Some of these will include small batch handmade dog toys, Satin ‘matt preventing’ collars, fashion collars,  and Quagga Cloth dog sweaters, from a very exclusive maker - unless you are invited in to her client list, Spike Dog Grooming and Day Spa will be the only place you can purchase these sweaters.

The retail section will also include tools and products to help the clients maintain their pet’s coats at home between grooming appointments.

Our Pet Parking program will be a substantial benefit to those local residents who take their dog on their daily walk down Main St, as well as benefiting potential clients who are visiting Biddeford and want to enjoy the local shops and dining without worrying about their beloved pet waiting behind in their car. This will be especially important during the hot summer months when leaving pets in a car is not only dangerous, but illegal. Clients will find themselves suddenly with the freedom to enjoy their time in Biddeford all while feeling good about their pet’s experience as well."
