Help Little Heart K9 help LUNA

Donation protected
Luna is a 1 year old, spayed, female German Shepherd dog.  Luna was rescued from an Arizona shelter and quickly proved to be a handful for her adopter.  Luna is also sweet, loving, playful, and endearing.  Her adopter wants the best for Luna and opted to surrender her to Little Heart K9 so that she can receive the medical care and obedience training that she needs to be a polite pet and well balanced pack member.

After Luna receives the medical care and training she needs, she can then be made available as adoptable and placed in a qualified home that best suits Luna's needs.

Luna has been integrated in to the Little Heart K9 pack.  Our little lady, Luna, is a first class brat who will benefit tremendously from the structure of a board and train facility.  But, first, Little Heart K9 is taking Luna to the vet on Monday, October 29th for an evaluation on her gimpy left leg/paw.  After the initial consultation, we will know more about how to address Luna's physical needs.

Then, we need to address the important stuff:  Luna has likely never had training, structure or rules.  Luna needs to go to board and train to receive the structured obedience training she needs to be a polite pet and well balanced dog.  After training, Luna and her potential adopter will need to meet with her trainer to be sure that Luna's new skill set will be maintained for years to come.

Please help us help Luna: donate.  Funds will be applied to Luna's veterinary care, training, transportation, food, meds/supplements, etc.  Evaluation fees for board and train range from $50 to $100.  Board and train fees range from $1,950 up to $3,500.  We want to do our best to help Luna, and we need your support to make this happen for this beautiful, rescued German Shepherd dog.

Update, Nov. 8, 2018: We took Luna to the vet on Oct. 29th.  The simple answer is that her foot has been broken for a long time and healed poorly.  Correcting the broken bones in her foot means seeing an orthopedic clinic, surgery to set the bones correctly, allow them to heal, and then another surgery to remove the plates, it could run in to the thousands.  Luna can walk and run.  She'll never be an all star athlete.  For now, we've opted to leave her left paw as-is.

Luna has been integrated in to the Little Heart K9 pack, however, she needs constant supervision and guidance.   Little Heart K9 has had over 40 German Shepherd dogs in its care.  Luna is the first we've felt very strongly NEEDS board and train.  Luna likes other dogs and will thrive with other pack members when she is adopted.  Before that can happen, she needs the structure of step-by-step training and consistency from board and train to guide her in making good decisions, sharing, being polite, and having good manners.

We are extremely grateful for donations received to date.  We need more in order to help Luna.

Luna will thank you for board and train, she just doesn't know it yet.

Thank you for helping us help Luna, from all of us at Little Heart K9.

Update, Nov. 20, 2018: Hi all, We're so grateful to everyone who has donated to support Luna!  THANK YOU!  We're still 2k shy of our goal to get Luna to board and train.  Given a somewhat limited audience, the upcoming holidays, and seeing some improvement from Luna by being integrated in to the Little Heart K9 pack, we've decided to use the funds we have to-date and go to Plan B.

We've hired a local, respected, dog trainer, Jill Cruz.  Luna will meet with Jill on Wednesday, November 28th for an off-site, two hour, evaluation.  From there, we will take the best course of action to get Miss Luna Bratty-Brat-Brat to an adoptable state of being.

Luna is a good girl, she needs training, consistency, guidance, and she'll be a great pack member to her future adopter.  Luna loves dogs and is a snuggle bug with both dogs and people.  When Luna is made adoptable, we will seek a qualified home with dogs.

Thank you again from all of us at Little Heart K9 and Happy Thanksgiving!
