Help Little Carter and Family

Donation protected
Carter has a rare congenital liver disease (read story of Carter's liver disease here). Last August, Carter was diagnosed with bone marrow suppression in addition to his liver disease which is causing more and more problems with his immune system.  To the outside world, he is a normal, fun, exceptionally kind and caring big brother, but problems with his immune system are causing frequent hospitalizations, blood draws, immune therapy shots, and other tests that no 5 year old should have to endure.   With his gentle, happy-go-lucky nature, you would never guess what Carter and his family go through with his illnesses.

On April 24 at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, Carter is having splenorenal shunt surgery in the hopes of easing the filtering work of his liver and spleen to ultimately help his immune system function better.  This is a major surgery and Carter will spend around one week (the first few days in ICU) and then about 10 more days in the Ronald McDonald house during his recovery.

Luckily, Carter has great insurance coverage for this surgery, though there is still a substantial deductible.  Also,  there will be many food, lodging, and transportation,  parking, etc. costs plus Jen and Zach each missing 2+ weeks of work.  This fund will help Carter and his family with the deductible and expenses during their stay in Chicago.  Please consider donating a small amount to help this sweet family in their time of need.
