Help Leon,Mommy&Daddy

Gilbert and Monica Koehl brought sweet baby Leon Robert into this world on August 24th 2019. Mommy and Daddy were ecstatic to take their bundle of joy Leon home and settle in.  They took Leon to his 2 week wellness check up, during the check up the pediatrician found that Leon had low muscle tone and a weak cry which was a concern, so they were sent to the ER for tests and were then admitted into the PICU. As tests were being done and while waiting on results, Leon was put on a high flow breathing system to assist his breathing and also a feeding tube. Going on week 3 in the PICU, Monica (mommy) and Gilbert (daddy) received Leon’s genetic test results and he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type1. This is the most severe case of SMA babies diagnosed with SMA Type 1 typically do not live to see their 2nd birthday. On September 27th, 2019 The Koehl Family will be taking Leon home under the care of Hospice. At this time they are cherishing every moment they have with sweet Leon.

      Gilbert and Monica are devoting themselves to Leon 110 percent of the time, which means they will not be working. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We as close family and friends are reaching out to those of you who may or may not know the Koehl Family and help them with medical and everyday living expenses.
