We are Frank & Lili Bacon. As most of you know, we got married almost one year ago. During our courtship, we discovered we shared passions for music, art, craft beer, and a great love for Oriental, N.C. - the small fishing village where we both were raised.
Frank introduced Lili to his flavorful, locally-inspired homebrew recipes and his in-depth knowledge of craft brewing (and the science behind it). In turn, Lili shared her experiences traveling the world and connecting with people from different cultures. It was by seeing (and tasting) the beauty of other places that Lili came to truly appreciate the beauty of her own little village. These experiences are a big part of who we each are as individuals, and by combining them, a common sense of purpose began to take shape.
Together, we have visited quite a few craft breweries in North Carolina and along the east coast, and have seen first-hand how local craft breweries can revive communities, create good jobs, and bring people closer together.
We thought to ourselves, Wow, if every village had that, perhaps the world would feel a lot smaller, and a lot friendlier. We have so much love for Pamlico County and for our little village of Oriental- its past, its present, its people, its places, its pastimes, its fishing and farming, its flora and fauna, and most of all, its future.
A question arose. How can we re(connect) people with this place and share the beauty of our village?
The “Aha!” moment: We can brew up and serve really great beer that is inspired by (and gives new life to) our village!
The resounding answer: The New Village Brewery turned into a brainwave, which in turn gave us a new mission in life. With a little luck and resources, we have transformed that mission into a vision, by renting an ideal space in the heart of the village, investing in a state-of-the-art 1 barrel brewing system, and developing a business plan.
Now, we need YOU to help bring our dream to life!
It will take at least several months to get all the proper licensing and permits. In the meantime, we need to pay rent, procure raw materials, and obtain the rest of the equipment needed to get The New Village Brewery up and running. The funds raised here, on GoFundMe, will help us stay on target to open our doors and begin sharing our local, hand-crafted beer with our patrons within the next 6 months.
