Greetings from the Herban Herbalista!
I am a soap maker and herbalist in Dallas, Texas. I have over 30 years of experience in using herbs for food and healing, and I have been making soap for the past 17 years. During some of this time, I was also a public school teacher in the city of Dallas. My experience in the classroom gave me a love of teaching and sharing that I long to continue. I would like to launch a teaching business that shares my passion for sustainable, ecological and affordable self-care through herb crafting and soap making. As hobbies, these activities have sustained me through many of life's' challenges, and I would like to give back to my community by teaching these simple but powerful crafts to others.
I am asking for donations of funds to expand and sustain a teaching business which would reach and help a larger number of students. The funds would be used to purchase oils, butters, and the other raw ingredients needed to make soap and herbal products and to use as hands-on class materials; purchase the insurance needed to responsibly run my teaching; establish a fund for down payments in securing venues in which to teach each class; and support an online presence to facilitate marketing and communication with customers. My goal is to receive and allot these funds to begin teaching classes by the end of September 2017. This would enable me to begin working with students in time for their new skills to be helpful during the immediately following gift giving season.
Having your support in this venture would mean that I could begin reaching students from both my local and disparate communities in careful management of a stable set of resources which facilitate teaching at its very highest level of engagement, depth, and thoroughness.
