Fund Food Testing--Looking for Toxic Chemicals

Donation protected
Laboratory testing has revealed high levels of glyphosate in vegan pea proteins. Donate today to continue the testing! We all need full transparency in the food industry!

After the Detox Project tested the top selling protein powders on Amazon for pesticides at a California Department of Food & Agriculture approved laboratory, it was apparent that they had stumbled onto a contamination problem.  Working alongside the Detox Project, we are asking YOU to help us fund more testing so we can find out once and for all where there are high levels of pesticides and other toxic chemical contamination in the foods and supplements we buy every day.

Backstory: When the Detox Project tested the top selling protein powders on Amazon, we expected to find the conventional brands having more glyphosate residues than the organic ones. What we found was adulteration in organic pea protein that was so egregious, it's very concerning. We even re-tested two of the USDA Organic certified brands and the results were worse than the first tests, which confirmed to us that we had stumbled across a BIG problem in the organic industry.

Glyphosate is the most used weed killer in the world and is used in products such as Roundup. It was classified as a 'probable human carcinogen' by the International Agency for Research and Cancer (IARC) at the World Health Organization in 2015.

Something HAS to be done here to maintain the standards of organic food and protect the consumer from pesticide contamination. If you are paying top dollar for organic products, you should receive food that is free from pesticides like glyphosate.

There was also some good news from the initial round of testing involving a number of other categories of best-selling protein powders on Amazon (whey, soy & collagen peptides) - no pesticides were found in the first products tested. However, we cannot make any conclusions from this as we need to test more products from these categories first.

We are sure that most organic products are clean and don't have pesticides residues in them, but we need to find out where there are serious problems in the supply chain.

Let me be clear this is not about organic farmers being deceptive -- it is about a lack of control over the crops after they leave the farm. In some supply chains, something is known as "swapping out" occurs where organic is mixed with conventional, which is a dangerous activity.

And this is where you come in....let's crowdfund this!

I'm asking you to help by donating money to test more popular brands and more categories of food so we can help clean up the global supply chain for organic and protect the consumers everywhere.

We'd love to start testing the following categories:
-Pastas, rice & bread (gluten & non-gluten varieties)
-Cereals
-Snack foods like chips, crackers, etc.
-Meat alternatives
-Dairy products
-Baby food
-Meat & chicken (for pesticides & antibiotics)
-Condiments & spices
-Nut butters & spreads
-etc, etc, etc

If you can help us raise the first $25,000, we'll test 10 of the most popular brands of each category--organic and conventional. Then the next $25,000 goes to another category, and on and on until we run out of money.

We'd like to do the next round of testing in July, so I'd need that cash by June 31st.

Will you help? Any amount will do!

Donate today and be part of the pesticides testing team with Mamavation and the Detox Project!
