Kimberly Andrews was imprisoned in Allegheny County Jail, held without bond, and subjected to conditions that are recognized as torture under international human rights law. Although the dangers of solitary confinement are now recognized as so severe that people with serious mental health conditions, like Kim, should never be placed in isolation, she was forced to survive 80 days in such torturous conditions.
Now she is out and needs your help.

According to Allegheny County’s records, she owes nearly $3000 in “probation fees”, “restitution”, and other “court fees.” In order to put this situation behind her Kim has to pay off all these fines and fees so that probation can be terminated early.
Our judicial system often saddles individuals with enormous debt burdens as a form of financial sentence, creating a debtor’s prison, where people remain on probation - and at risk of re-incarceration for non-criminal conduct - until they pay off the full amount.
We as a community need to show Kim that she is cared for and supported.
Let’s get her off probation and let her live her life in peace.
