Help Keep Baby Braydins Heart Beating

Donation protected
Background
On June 22nd 2016, parents Amanda and Ryan Borden received the news that no parents want to hear. Their son Braydin who was only 2.5 months old would have to take his 1st airplane ride in an air ambulance from Sault Area hospital to Sick Kids in Toronto. He had flown under the radar living with  congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (CCTGA) which is a rare heart defect in which the heart’s lower half is reversed, a very serious aliment since birth. He required open heart surgery and had a lengthy stay at Sick Kids in Toronto.Braydin also had a hole in his heart that needed to be fixed; ventricular septal defect aka VSD, the hole occurs in the wall that separates the heart's lower chambers (septum) and allows blood to pass from the left to the right side of the heart. The oxygen-rich blood then gets pumped back to the lungs instead of out to the body, causing the heart to work harder.  Braydin is one strong little man whom had been living with these defects since his heart was formed in utero and yet still has the brightest smile that will light up your world.

Current

Over the last 3 years Braydin has made countless trips back and forth to Sick Kids in Toronto where he has been being closely monitored. Many times he was put on a holter monitor here in the Sault so the team of specialists in Toronto can keep a close eye on him and his heart. In the last few months Baby Braydins heart has been  getting weaker and basic daily activities were taking a toll on him. Mom went to an appointment in Toronto and on Feb 7th 2019 the family received the news that Braydin would need a pace maker put in and ASAP. This surgery is not only risky in itself but more so because Braydin has alot of scar tissue from previous open heart surgeries. Amanda received the call onFeb 11th 2019 and Braydins surgery is set for Feb 13th 2019. Mom and grandma were left no choice to leave at 8pm on Feb 11th to drive to Toronto because flights have been cancelled due to suspected weather and Braydin needs this surgery stat. Dad Ryan is staying home to care for big sister Sophia and continue working. The timing for surgery was unexpected. After surgery mom will be staying right by Baby Braydins side, and the length of stay is unknown at this time it can be days/weeks/months. It's all dependnat on how surgery goes. I'm sure you can imagine the cost of travel, hotel, and food is costly especially when it is unexpected. Due to the season work is slower then usual for Dad. I want to be able to help lessen the stress on the family any way possible and reaching out for help is one way I can. Any amount you can donate I'm sure will be beyond appreciated by the parents. As you can imagine this is emotionally draining for the parents and family. If you want to send well wishes and prayers please do so here. I will keep this page updated as I am updated by mom and dad but please try not to overwhelm them with texts and messages as their main focus right now is getting past each second with all focus on baby Braydin. Keep fighting baby Braydin we all love you and can't wait to hear what you've  changed your name to next xoxo
