Help Karen O'Brien Recover
Donation protected
To know Karen O'Brien, or "Kerni" to many of her friends, is to love her. She is one of the most caring, gentle-hearted people around and she has dedicated her life to caring for high-risk premature babies as a NICU nurse. She is adored by her patients' families, co-workers, family and friends, and her laugh lights up an entire room.
It was a shock on January 24th to learn that Karen suffered a stroke as a side-effect from some other health issues she has struggled with for years. Her sister flew into town to be at her side while she recovered in the ICU. Thankfully, Karen's memory and cognition appears in tact, but she is experiencing an affected left side of her body, which will need medical expertise and therapy. She will likely remain in the hospital for an extended time while she works to regain mobility and function.
Although Karen has grown close to so many of her little patients, the babies she calls her own are her fur-babies. She has two dogs and three cats that she adores. Her sister has been caring for her beloved animals thus far, but needs to return home soon. While she is recovering in the hospital we would like to provide funds for her animals to be cared for together in their home three times a day. We are hoping to raise three months of care for her animals, and any additional funds will be put towards medical bills. To ease this burden from Karen would be such a blessing to her and we are so grateful for any donation.
