Help Kaleb find his purpose

Donation protected
Autism. Most of you probably have heard of it but are not really sure of what it is. Who am I kidding!  My brother has it and I have lived with it all of my life and I don’t even know what it really is! What I do know is that it can devastate not only a family’s resources, but their emotional sanity too.

Most of you that know me have heard me talk about my nephew, Kaleb. He is my brother’s third child. His older brother has autism too. Kaleb is, by far, the worst. This beautiful ten-year-old boy not only has been afflicted with Autism, he also has a host of other disabilities that have left him with the mental capabilities of a kid half his age. You can only imagine his struggles in the public-school systems! It has been a 5-year battle that we continue to lose.  He may be the saddest little guy you’ve ever met. A sadness that no ten-year-old deserves.

Those of you that know me, also know that both of my parents are educators and have recently retired. Throughout Kaleb’s struggles with public education, they have been intimately involved fighting hand-in-hand with his mom and dad trying to get the public-school system to provide for Kaleb’s needs.  Unfortunately, all four of these wonderful, loving parents, and grandparents have hit a wall. The school system has not only failed to provide for Kaleb, they refuse to acknowledge that they are not capable of doing so.

Fortunately, there are wonderful private school options that provide special services to help kids like Kaleb. His parents have found such a school. By law, public schools are required to pay tuition to these private schools for services they cannot provide. Unfortunately, they will do so only when court ordered. Obviously, the legal fees to do this can be staggering.  My brother and his wife only have Keith’s disability income and could never consider pursuing this for their son.  My parents have dug into their retirement to pay for these legal fees, but cannot do it all. That is where you can help.  I am asking you to donate to help with Kaleb’s legal cost, but don’t look at it as “paying for a lawyer”. What you are really doing is helping a sweet, sweet kid find his purpose in life. A purpose the public-school system can never help him find.

I know our financial goal looks big, but it will only take 200 caring people donating $25 each to achieve it.  Any little bit is so appreciated.

Please help Kaleb find himself and share this with everyone you know.

God bless…
