Hello, my name isJulia Kinder and I suffer from an extremely painful skin condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) also know as Red Skin Syndrome (RSS). This condition is caused by the use of topical steroid cream on the skin as well as powerful immunosuppressive drugs such as prednisone.
I have always suffered from allergies, eczema and asthma and the use of prescription cream and inhalers was the norm. Most people grow out of their allergies and eczema, but unfortunately I am now 38 and in the worst state of skin health I have ever been in. I have full body eczema, cracked skin that oozes, burning red skin, extreme itching, inability to regulate body temperature and severe inflammation. I have had to stop work because my body could no longer handle the type of work I was doing - I am a caregiver for a young lady with special needs. My job was very physical as I took care of all of her daily needs. I would spend all of my energy caring for someone else and not be able to care for myself when I finished work. So I had to make the tough decision to take a medical leave. I am single and I live on my own and responsible solely to pay all the bills. It is manageable but does not leave any money to pay for the treatment I badly need. I have found a Dr in Vancouver that I believe will be able to help me. He works with traditional Chinese herbs and blends a customized tea for me to drink daily. I could be needing to take the tea for several months to maybe a year depending on how quickly I heal. The cost is $10.50 a day for the tea, plus the expense of driving to Vancouver for appointments and follow ups every few weeks. I put the goal at $5000 to supplement my income and my getting treatment for 6 months. If you can donate $10 then you would be paying for treatment for me for 1 day and even for 1 day I am grateful. I thank every one of you in advance for helping me. This is the hardest thing I've had to go through in my life and asking for help is just as hard. All the money raised will go towards gas and expenses to Vancouver to see the specialist, for the customized tea treatment I will receive. Thank you and if you would like more information on my skin condition, please visit www.itsan.org or http://www.red-skin-syndrome.com.

This is my life in a nutshell. Most women I imagine they would have makeup, maybe a protein bar, wallet etc in their purse. Not me! I have 6 different kinds of cream, epipens, allergy pills and spray, prescriptions and puffers. All of this costs a lot of money. A single epipen is $100 at least, with a one year shelf life! I have to keep 2 on hand at all times because the medication only lasts about 20 minutes in my system before I start going anaphylactic again. The recommended cream for me to use 3 times a day, over my entire body, is $25 a jar. At the rate I'm going I will use one a week. A big problem is my moisture barrier is wrecked which allows allergens and foreign substances to penetrate my skin, causing an allergic reaction. SWEATING causes a reaction too! Imagine sweating in this heat and wherever there is sweat there is intense itching. This causes a lot of stress and discomfort especially if I have to leave the house and away from my comfort zone. I struggle every single day with this. It will not go away.
I am continuing to seek out help for this with different types of healing methods. I am on a list for a drug trial in Vancouver which is hopefully starting mid July. I have to make 8 trips to Vancouver over the course of the trial. I believe I will get some sort of compensation from this but there will still be expenses. I would love to reach my goal and surpass it! Please share my post and please donate if you can. Thank you everyone for your continued support.

It's been a month now since I had to go to Emergency, and since I was completely unable to do anything for myself because of the full body inflammation, eczema and possible sepsis. I was treated with prednisone and antibiotics, which I wasn't too happy about since I was trying to avoid steroids, but it was necessary as I was facing a possible life threatening problem. Since then I've seen a dermatologist in Surrey who has me taking a different immunosuppressant drug to try and keep the symptoms under control. I am also on a list to be a participant in a drug trial to take a new biological drug that is supposed to help people with chronic atopic dermatitis.
The whole pharmaceutical treatment scares me as they all come with a huge list of side effects but at the same time, nothing else I was doing was working. Feeling somewhat backed into a corner I am going to go forward with the medications and treatments suggested by the dermatologist.
Heading into month 3 of being on medical leave, I am really hoping this treatment works and I'll be able to function like a normal human being and get back to work soon. I am still at my parents place in Crawford Bay until after I've gone through the transition from one medication to the other and we see that I'm stabilized. If not, then I go back to square one. Fingers crossed I don't relapse to the condition I was in prior to steroid treatment.
Thanks again everybody for your continued support. The kindness and love and caring I have received from everyone is unreal. I'm happy to be around so many people that care and I know it's helping with my recovery.
I'll update again as soon as there's something else to report.
1st day off prednisone (AGAIN)

I emailed the Dr I'm going to see in Vancouver and plead my case a bit more and attached some photos to see if he could squeeze me in any earlier than the 5th as I am really struggling at the moment. Good news is he has a cancellation this Friday. I'm going to see Dr Trevor Ericson who practices traditional Chinese medicine. His treatment is Chinese herbs that he has selected for me and my condition and blended together and brewed into a tea. He also makes ointments for the skin that are steroid free. I am so fortunate that there are people in this world that are healers and want to help people get better. I am also so thankful for the tremendous support from everyone through either donations, sharing my video, messaging, texting, calling. It means so much to me knowing so many people care and it's giving me the strength I need to keep pushing through this. I cannot wait until I am well again and I think the world is going to have to look out for me! I'm going to live such a big life after this. I will no longer take anything for granted.
Happy healing!
