Help JP after Spinal Cord injury

$13,120 of $95,000 goal

Raised by 134 people in 3 months
My husband, John Paul, was helping out a friend when he had an accident.  He severely damaged his spinal cord and broke the vertebrae in his neck.   He had a surgery to help stabilize his neck, but as result of the accident, he is paralyzed from the neck down.   Although we are very optimistic, the doctors say that his injury is permanent.   He is a loving husband and a devoted father of two young kids.  The life that we envisioned together has been forever changed.  We will have a challenging road ahead of us, but we are strong and will fight.    We are truly grateful for your love, support and prayers. Our family is in desperate need of financial help.   We are humbly asking for any help that you can give.    Thank you!

Hi everyone hope you are all doing amazing. Just a little update on what's going on and where we're at. The other day we were able to go outside with JP which was great.

JP has been slowly getting back into the shape he was in before the surgery. Things are looking good so far and hopefully within the next week or so he will be able to get back on his regular diet.

Thank you everyone and I will be keeping you posted.

JP is back in the Rehabilitation Facility. :))
We were all awaiting this step and it had finally COME-AGAIN.
After the second surgery we had to take a few steps back for a couple of days: JP had to go back on being fed through the feeding tube ( which he did not like at all). Then with the pneumonia, he had to take antibiotics which he just finished yesterday.

This upcoming week will be a whole new "positive" week. He will be taking all his tests again : the swallowing test, motion and sensation test. ;]

Thank you all for the continuous support!

Hi all, just an update.
JP'S surgery went well, thank you all for all the prayers and donations.

He is doing well, just has pneumonia in his left lung which the doctors have under control. The plan is to get him back into rehabilitation by the end of the week- hopefully this will happen.

New updates coming soon!

Thank you very much to all!

Hello All,
This is a brief update- I have some good and not so good news. Let's start with the good.
** So currently JP has been in a rehabilitation hospital and he has been doing really well. He has gone to a point where he is able to breathe on his own without any help from the machine- just the oxygen for about 10hours a day. He has been attending his Rehabilitation for about 3 hours a day 5 to 7 days a week. Jp has been doing extremely well, he has gained some movement in some parts of his upper body it is very limited movement but it just goes to show that there is hope and we are very happy, and we're looking forward to what the next steps are going to be.

Another very big achievement for JP is that he had passed all of his speech therapy tests and he has been put on a regular diet which means he can eat pretty much anything he wants. This has helped him a lot with his confidence and it is such a big step forward.

***** now here's the bad news. JP had a cat-scan done at the rehabilitation hospital and sent over to his doctor at the first hospital for review. This was done because JP's head and his neck was not really as straight as they would like it to be.
Yesterday I received a phone call from his doctor who did the initial spinal disc surgery, and I was told that JP will need another surgery. Disc c5 hss slightly moved, and is missaligned wirh the rest. This is putting pressure on the spine. the surgery will be happening tomorrow Friday June 29th. I will post another update after its done. Thank you all for everything. ♡♡♡♡
