Help Jack Beck Recover

My name is Amanda and Jack is my boyfriend of over 10 years and the father to our two beautiful children, Layla & Noah. Jack was about to graduate from Montclair State University this December with his bachelors degree in Geography until all of this happened. On August 14 our life changed drastically, Jack was in a very serious car accident where he was rearended by another driver at full speed. He was rushed to a local hospital, and was released that day from the hospital saying he was fine and just to follow up in a few days with a spine doctor because they saw an abnormality on his neck, just to make sure everything was looking good. We thought it was all going to be okay, we were shaken but cars & things can be replaced. At the follow up appointment we recieved the absolute worst news - he wasn't fine, Jack had an extremely unstable fracture in his neck and needed to put into a neck cast immediately and surgery was needed as soon as possible to help prevent paralysis. People don't normally walk after this type of injury, so we are beyond thankful for the blessing that he is still with us and unparalyized by this accident. He slowly started loosing feeling in his hands and feet, has been in a neck cast for over a month, and has been extremely scared for the future and impending surgery.

We have been doing our best and to try to do this all on our own and through the impossible insurance company, but it has been an extreme financial burden bringing him to and from doctors about 2 hours away in NYC from NJ, buying things he needs to try to be as comfortable as possible, and keeping up with medical bills along with daily life expenses.

Jack finally had his surgery this Monday October 2nd to have his c1&c2 spinal fusion where they fixed his kinked spinal cord and did a bone graph from his hip to use for his fusion. Surgery went a lot longer than expected but he made it through the hardest experience of his life. It has killed me to see the person I love the most go through this entire experience and to be so scared and in so much pain and struggling so much. It has completely broken my heart, but after surgery I grabbed his hand and he could finally feel me holding his hand for the first time in so long, so I'm very thankful that surgery went well despite everything. He is now out of the hospital, but Jack is in an immense amount of pain, and needs 24 hour care, which I'm trying to take on myself but it is becoming very hard for me to balance along side everyday things as well. I'm trying to raise funds to help my family with the finical burden this is taking on our family, and to help secure some money for the future months and years, because this injury is going to affect him for the rest of his life. I want to make sure he is as comfortable as possible, and under the least amount of stress during his recovery. Any and all help is greatly appreciated at this time for my family, prayers and positive vibes help if you cannot donate, and passing our story along is appreciated greatly. Thank you for reading our story.
