Heather is a 22 year old nursing student in her senior year at Western Connecticut State University. She has always been passionate about caring for others, however, now she needs help.
After over a year of suffering from severe pelvic bone pain, and switching from one provider to the next, she was finally able to find a doctor who would listen and send her to the appropriate specialists needed to reach a diagnosis.
Months of scans, biopsies, surgical procedures, and visits to different specialists led her medical team to the diagnosis of Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The diagnosis is based on a 6.8 cm mass on her heart that spread to the lymph nodes of her neck, chest, and abdomen as well as metastasis to her lungs, spleen, and lumbar, sacral and pelvic bone marrow.
Awaiting fertility treatment, Heather will begin chemotherapy in the next few weeks.
