Sunday, July 29th, 2018 was the final game for the American Legion B teams, state tournament.  Evanston had made it all the way through the bracket with a lot of hard won victories.  Everyone was excited for another great day of baseball.

During the game, a midfield collision happened.  Hank was knocked unconscious, unresponsive and was not breathing.  He was assisted on the field, rushed to the hospital and life flighted to Salt Lake City, UT.

He has a fractured sinus near his ear, burst eardrum and a fractured skull.  He does not remember what happened.  The neurosurgeon said the blood and air from the fractured sinus is migrating away  from his brain and that is a very good thing.

He has been working with a speech therapist today, the doctors are monitoring his injuries closely and we are all hopeful and praying for the best results.

We are working to raise funds to assist the family during this time, to assist with hotel, travel, meals, child care, PT and all the massive expenses that occur with an injury like this.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hank has been steadily headed in the right direction. They wanted him to be home and in a quiet and comfortable place so his brain can heal while he waits to follow up. He has to go back to Salt Lake in four days to follow up on his head injuries and a follow up on neck trauma. We are home and watching him closely and we are constantly with him and being SO careful about everything. Only on his feet assisted to the bathroom.

The hospital has let Hank go home! We are about to leave Salt lake now. It's going to be a lot of rest, recovery and physical therapy. As his skull breaks recover, he'll hopefully get his hearing back in his right ear. One of the breaks went through his ear canal and ruptured his eardrum. Kids are very resilient and Hank is a fighter! He will be back to Hank, we are certain, and we are beyond grateful!

Hank is doing much better this morning. The hospital is discussing letting him go home today, and we will figure out what we need to do as far as care, and what to watch for. Things are really looking up! It's going to be a long road of recovery, healing and physical therapy, but we don't care, we have our boy!
