The mission of the Jaffrey Civic Center is to provide free access to a public venue where all citizens can pursue artistic, educational and civic activities
The Center hosts two multi media arts shows annually,
an ongoing open studio for artists of all mediums, several art classes and a children's art show, as well as 20 art shows per year for individual artists.
The Center hosts candidate nights, dramatic performances and is used for meetings of several local non-profit organizations.
The most important initiative that we’ve been working on is raising money for a lift to the second floor of the Civic Center. The Civic Center is over 50 years old and does not have an elevator or any alternative way to get upstairs, aside from the stairs. This prohibits access to many of our constituents including the elderly, handicapped and/or physically impaired individuals. As a 501c3 non-profit, dedicated to providing equal access to everyone, this directly impacts our mission as an equitable access institution and prevents a large population of people from participating in our art exhibits, classes and other events held on the second floor of our building.
Our Board of Trustees has decided that providing a lift to the second floor is of the highest priority and we’ve already raised over $52,000 in order to do this. The funds we’ve raised to date come from private donors, fundraising events, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, RBC in Peterborough, Jaffrey Rotary, Jaffrey Gilmore Trust and through our own Board of Trustees.
Our goal is to raise $80,000 and we only need about $28,000 more to complete our goal. No amount is too small.
