Help give refugee family good start

A few months ago, 17 people from Ottawa, Montreal and Renfrew, responded to a message about getting together to sponsor a refugee family. The group Human to Human Connection was born, and quickly began the application process.
At at time when millions of people are displaced by conflict and persecution across the world, needs for resettlement are great - and things moved fast! By the end of this month (already!) a family of 9 Syrian refugees - including 5 young children, mother, father and aunt and grandmother - will arrive to Ottawa in search of a new life, away from the hardships and trauma they have experienced after being displaced from their homes by war.
They have endured a lot of difficulty, and deserve as smooth as possible transition to a new life. The funds that we have are minimal, and we know that they will need much more to get back on their feet and live a life with dignity and stability.
Please help this family with any donation you can. Your generosity will be felt and remembered for a very long time.
All money raised will go directly to the family (our sponsorship group keeps nothing) so they can get essential items they will need to settle in Canada, and to help them get through their first year and beyond - including helping pay for special needs of some of the children, their aunt and grandmother.

Life for Syrian Refugees
Before the war, Syria was a middle-income country and many of its refugees come from a variety of backgrounds and education levels, from poor farmers to lawyers and teachers. War and human rights abuses have killed many, and forced over 5.6 million people—including women and children—to flee their homes in Syria. Families have left everything behind to make the dangerous journey to safety.
Neighbouring countries are doing everything they can to provide shelter and assistance for those in need, but refugees face mounting difficulties in accessing food, housing, medical care, and other basic needs for their families. Many have been living in limbo for several years.
