Help My Gran Have Her DREAM Holiday

Donation protected

Hello!
Being a writer you would think I'd know how to write one of these, but with this being so close to my heart I'm clouded by emotions. Basically I'm looking to raise money for my Gran to take her on her dream holiday of touring Europ.

The Story;
My Gran is my world, she's raised me my whole life and I doubt there's a more selfless person out there. She's kind, caring and extreamly generous. Growing up my mother suffered with several Mental Health problems, My Gran was her carer and whilst she already had her plate full with Myself and my mother, she also cared for my Great grandad.

It feels like my gran has had to endure so much tragedy throughout her life, loosing many of her sisters and mother to cancer, loosing both her children, being beaten to an inch of her life where she had to go through facial reconstruction surgery and more. In August 2008 we lost my mum and it felt like life was falling apart, fast forward 9 months and her dad passed away, but through all this my gran was my rock, she was always there for me and now it's time for me to do something for her.

When my gran was 21 she had Cervical cancer and had to have a hysterectomy. This was the first time she kicked cancers butt, the second? Well, this year (2017) on February 2nd she underwent an operation to remover her thyroid and that's all it was supposed to be but they found a mass in her neck, luckily they caught it early enough and managed to get it all cut out, leaving behind none of the cancer. Everyday since I thank my lucky stars that she was getting this thyroid removed because if she didn't, how long would this cancer go un noticed? Would we have caught it in time? The list of "what if's" is endless and I dread to think about them.

The care and respect my gran has received from the staff at Monklands hospital in airdrie has been astonishing and I can't thank them enough for everything they done for her, from making her feel comfortable in a place that gives her panic attacks to making her laugh when she felt her worst, the staff kept my grans spirits high and for that I'm forever greatful.

Watching my gran go through this really brought to light what's important in this life and I honestly couldn't imagine where I would be without her. She's 65 years old but has the spirit of a 20 year old, she's always happy, singing and making sure that my son (her great grandson) is the happiest little boy in the world. She's his hero, she's his best friend.

Knowing what my grans been through in life I've made her start a bucket list where we can tick off each one as we go, but her main one is to tour Europ and I want to fulfil this dream for her because I think she's more than deserving of it. She's only ever visited Spain or lanzarote and it's always been with young children so it's never been a relaxing holiday or exploration holiday as I know she LOVES. My Grans all about architecture, it's her love, her passion is to visit beautiful architectural buildings and historical places and touring Europ together for her to see all these places would make her feel complete in life. She's never had anything that's just been for her and her alone.

I thank anyone who can help make her dream a reality from the bottom of my heart because I know how happy this will make her.
