ANASTASIA’S STORY

As many of you know, our amazing mother and wife, Anastasia Foden (affectionately known as Ann) has fought an Epic 12 year battle with that insidious C-Word ~CANCER~.

Originally diagnosed in 2005 with Stage 4 Breast Cancer, Ann was swiftly admitted to hospital to have drastic single mastectomy surgery and the removal of over 10 important Lymph Nodes. With her 1st Round of Chemotherapy to follow quickly after.

Ann recovered strongly after this with her astute, tenacious personality we all know and love so much. This strong will saw her fight off the continuing Metastasising nature of her cancer with monthly Cancer Marker Blood checks and travel to the Gold Coast where she was given intravenous Zometa treatments to preserve the integrity of her bones. Ann reached a remarkable 5 years of well deserved Remission reprieve. She was able to return to work and enjoyed a few Australian holidays with her husband, David, of 48 years.

Unfortunately shortly after this achievement the cancer markers were found to be too high to leave unattended, as the cancer had spread to many locations deep in her bones.

Ann’s condition was diagnosed as terminal.

From here, with the sprightly energy of a toddler, the grace of a ballet dancer and the courage of a footballer Anastasia underwent a total of 15 Chemotherapy Rounds and 4 Rounds of Radiation on different parts of her ailing body, over the next 7years!! Travelling over 150,000 kms back and forth from Laidley to the Gold Coast.

Ann has put up an heroic fight, with the bravest of faces whilst her body endured this incredible undertaking. Unfortunately, now the pain has almost taken over and she has grown too weak to keep up the fight and undergo any more procedures.

Anastasia is currently in the hospital as they determine her correct dosage for pain management for the remainder of her incredible life.

As one would expect, she is very eager to return to her adored country home and her beloved sewing room.

On behalf of Ann we ask for your help...

Her Doctors have approved her return to home but only with strict safety devices in place, due to the frail nature of her cancer ridden bones. This includes, but not limited to, a ramp to the entrance of their home, hand rails and a few other applications.

As we wait impatiently for various Government Agencies to give approval and the financial assistance to begin the select renovations, we would like to ask the greater community to help us build up her Palliative Care Fund and begin the necessary constructions.

If you are able to donate even just a dollar or two, or you have the skills needed to carry out the building works to get Ann back to her country home.
Where she can watch the sunsets over the Lockyer Valley, play in her sewing room and watch her 5 little grandkids run vivaciously around their yard. We - David, Stacey, Sharon, Angela, James and our Families - would be ever so grateful you have given her and us this gift of happiness.
Donations will be used towards the following Projected Costs:
$5,000 - Ramp
$3,000 - Electric Chair + Hand Rails
$1,000 - Larger Shower Space
$300/month - Medications
$25 (from/day) - Home Nurse
$600/visit - Specialist Doctor Appointments
Possibility for car with wheel chair access in the future
Ongoing Medical Treatments

Thank you for your time, support and understanding through this amazing decade.
