This GoFundMe account is for my loving husband, Nathan Lawless, who is fighting a tremendous battle and needs our help.
Never did we imagine we would be writing here, and I'm not sure where to begin with our story.
Nathan is the love of my life, my best friend and a wonderful and devoted father to our twin nine year old girls. At only 46 years old, my husband is fighting the battle for his life.
In the summer of 2018 he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The biopsy showed that this cancer was rare. Nathan actually has four types of cancer in one tumor.
Less than one percent of all colorectal cancers have these mixed properties so Nathan's case is extremely rare and requires a radical life-changing surgery after chemotherapy, and possibly radiation. Because of the size of the tumor, it must be shrunk with chemo before it can be removed.
While this initial diagnosis shocked and scared us, we knew we could get through this difficult time as a family and with our faith, but then we received an additional diagnosis that was much worse.
The Pet Scan and MRI confirmed that Nathan was stage four. His cancer had already spread to his liver and lymph nodes.
We have prayed and asked God for guidance because we know he has a plan for our family.
Nathan is rarely able to sit comfortably without pain or pain medication. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and as his wife, seeing my strong husband living in pain and suffering the side effects of chemo hurts my heart. The weakness, the nausea, the insomnia - it all seems to be getting worse and is here to stay as the treatments continue.
I drive him to all of his doctors' appointments, scans, and chemo treatments--and do everything I can to be there with my husband.
The company that Nathan works for has been very good to him, but the short term disability is a fraction of his normal pay and the expenses of his medical treatment are mounting.
We humbly ask you that you take a moment to share your love and support with our family.
We ask that you pray for Nathan. This battle is as spiritual as much as it is physical. We believe in the power of prayer and ask that you pray for peace, comfort, and to fully trust The Lord during this unknown season in our lives. Pray for strength - physically, emotionally, and spiritually during these treatments, and please pray that Nathan will be healed.
If you can give, every penny counts. Nathan's cancer diagnosis has led to a significantly lower than usual income--and additional unplanned expenses that has affected our family.
