Help Fulfil Neill's Dream

Donation protected
My Dad, Neill Jones was diagnosed with appendicial cancer in June of 2018. Following the discovery of a large growth, he underwent surgery to have it removed. Despite the partial removal of his colon and small intestine four mucocele growths remained.

 The type of Cancer he has is rare and terminal.

As the remaining growths could not be surgically removed Neill has since undergone intensive chemotherapy treatment in an attempt to shrink the growths. At the end of this treatment his case will be reviewed to determine if he is able to undergo further surgical treatment.

Should surgery be an option it will be invasive and require weeks of hospitalisation and result in a lengthy recovery process.

 If successful the surgery may extend Neill’s life expectancy. If he is not able to undergo surgery the doctors estimate he will have weeks or several months left at most.

 So for those of you who don’t know Neill, I struggle to find the appropriate way to describe who he is. They don’t seem enough to describe the person, the Dad, the Husband that he is. They can’t articulate the heartbreak our family is experiencing.

 He is a loving father to Thomas his 24 year old son. He has shown my Mum what it is to be in a loving and respectful relationship. He adores her and goes out of his way to care for her and show her how special she is each and every day. He has been a supportive and loving father to me for the last 17 years.

 Unfortunately his condition has caused significant financial pressure for our family. My Mum, Lynn has needed to stop working, so that she can care for Neill. The increased medical expenses associated with his treatment have compounded these issues.

A year ago with better health, my mum and Neill rented a two-story house but with Neill’s loss of mobility they have had to vacate to a smaller rental property, which has put further strain on their finances.

 Since Neill’s retirement from almost 40 years of teaching two years ago, he turned his lengthy educational experience to writing books for boys and young adult male readers who are sometimes reluctant to read. Throughout his career he specialised in boys’ education and always tried to engage his students, in one of Neill’s great passions, reading. He has written a number of unpublished stories. One of the last goals that he has set for the time he has left is to ensure that these stories can find the readers that they are meant for.

 We would like to help Neill achieve his dream but cannot. Which is why I have set up this page.

 It is with great difficulty that I ask for assistance. My parents are too proud to ask, and I cannot think of another way to provide them with the resources they need to reduce the burden they are facing and help Neill achieve his last wish.

 With that said I ask that you either share or make a contribution to support my Dad. Funds donated will assist with;

 1.    Medical and related expenses

2.    Costs to publish Neill’s stories so that he can hold one of his books in his hand

If you are unable to make a financial contribution I would ask that you share this request with as many of your friends as possible.
