Help for the Venegas family
On December 17, tragedy struck when David and his youngest, 4 year old Jacqueline, were involved in a fire and suffered severe, 3rd degree burns. Jacqueline, who has previously been diagnosed with autism, suffered the brunt of it with burns over 67 percent of her body, mostly to her face and torso.
As you can imagine, the family is devastated. David has been hospitalized for almost 3 weeks and has not been able to work. Gaby, a stay-at-home mom, has been at Jacqueline's bedside this whole time, trusting the care of her 2 older boys to David's family.
Thankfully, their insurance has been able to cover their bills so far but that won't be for long. They will both continue to need surgeries and long term care. Jacqueline specially, whose recovery might be affected by her autism, will continue to need help and therapy for years to come.
Money can't fix what this family has gone through and will continue to go through, but it will go a long way in giving them peace of mind to know that their bills are taken care of and they can focus on getting healthy, physically and emotionally.
If you have the means, please consider contributing to help this family, and give as much as you can. And even if you can't give, please pray for them as much as you can.
Thank you and God bless.
As you can see, her breathing tube is finally out! She is talking and eating on her own! Good news!! She is also out of intensive care.
I visited with her today and she was in good spirits, watching Alvin and the chipmunks on her iPad and excited to see the little presents I brought for her. This is the most "normal" I have seen her since her accident. It made my heart happy.
Her family is also thrilled at the progress and is looking forward to hopefully bringing her home soon...
I feel this is a good time to wind down this gofundme campaign. We fell short of our goal but the help that has poured in has made a world of difference. And for that I thank you and the family thanks you.
Jacqueline might be going home soon but her journey to healing is just beginning. Her mom was telling me that as she grows, she will need more surgeries as the skin grafts do not grow. It breaks my heart to think about all that she will need to go through.
But I said it before and I'll say it again. Jacqueline is a warrior. I saw it in her eyes today. My prayer is that she won't just get through it but that she will THRIVE. Will you join me in praying that for her?
Your continued prayers are needed and appreciated. Also, I will leave this campaign open one more week in case someone wants to make a last-minute donation.
Again, on behalf of Jacqueline and her family, thanks for all your help, prayers, and good wishes. God bless.
This brave little warrior will be going in for her 12th surgery next week. I took this picture today. This is the sight that greets me every time I go to see her. Her little body lying on the bed and her strong mama watching over her....
Jacqueline is strong. She is a warrior. And I can tell who she gets it from. Her mom told me that all her little teeth are loose from grinding them so much because of all the pain she's in. I can't imagine. But, she is getting better. She is getting used to her new normal. And she works hard. Her therapies are grueling, painful and exhausting. Jacqueline is no quitter. She will come out of this.
And I know it is in part because of all the people that have helped, either by donating or by lifting her up in prayer.
Tonight, I am posting this to give those of you that have been meaning to help, but haven't for whatever reason,
an opportunity to do so now. This family still needs a lot of help. Jacqueline's dad is out of the hospital but his leg is still healing and he has not been cleared to go back to work. This will be the 4th month with no income coming in for this family. And still, rent will be due, bills will need to be paid, and kids will need to be fed.
So, if you've had it in your heart to help, please do so now. Any amount helps.
Thank you and God bless!
It is Jacqueline's birthday today! She is 4 years old. And while we are so thankful to God that she is alive and fighting, the road ahead for her is very long and very hard.
She is recuperating from her most recent surgery performed a few days ago. We don't know yet if the skin grafts on her face are working.
Please continue to lift her and her family in your prayers. And if you've been meaning to donate and haven't yet, what better day than today? Her birthday! Thank you all for your prayers and support!!
A quick update... Little Jacqueline is going in to surgery tomorrow again. The doctors will be working on one of many reconstructive procedures on her little face.
Please say a prayer for her and the doctors tomorrow.
And if you haven't donated, you still can! Any amount helps!
Thank you and God bless!!
Thank you for the updates Nancy. I have been praying for Jacqueline and her family every night, it is good to see that her surgeries are progressing well.
