Help for the Hensley's

On June 23rd 2018 Jacob was traveling to a veterans rally in Depew, OK. Jacob is a Veteran himself and since leaving the Army one of his hobbies/ passions is his bike (Reba).

Oklahoma has received tons of rain within the week making some of the roads and highways more dangerous for bikers. Jacob was exiting I-44 east bound at the Bristow exit when he hit a patch of gravel. He had no choice but to lay the bike down. Unfortunately a large metal highway sign was on the ground where Jacob wrecked and it caused massive trauma to his body.

Jacob sustained multiple injuries and was transferred to Saint Francis a  Trauma 1 facility in critical condition. His injuries include: 4 fractured ribs, contusions to his lungs and kidney, spleen laceration, abdominal aorta tear/ aneurysm (required surgery), pelvic bone fracture, left hand fracture, and a large abdominal wound that required two surgeries, wound vac, 30 + staples and a JP drain.

Jacob was on a ventilator in trauma ICU for 48 hours then transferred to a cardiac ICU where he remains now.

Jacob is a brother of the IBEW local 1141. He unfortunately has been laid off since January 2018 resulting in a loss of insurance.  The case manager here is trying to work with the VA to help but its not looking promising.

We are not the kind of people that ask for money, in fact WE HATE IT! but every cent donated will go straight to medical bills. So we thank everyone in advance. Even if you don't donate we appreciate thoughts and prayers.

Below I will copy and paste all my Facebook updates on Jacob:

6/23/2018-Just wanted to let our friends and family know that Jacob had an accident on the bike today. He is intubated in the ICU. He has broken ribs, bruised lungs, contusions to his spleen and kidney, tear in his abdominal aorta, a huge laceration to his leg/abdomen and some obvious road rash. He has had one surgery for the laceration and will have another tomorrow morning for the aorta. He's pretty banged up but thankfully he was wearing a helmet! Just need prayers for a speedy recovery.

6/24/2018- UPDATE: Jacob had surgery on his abdominal aorta this morning. Surgery went well with no complications. He has been moved to a cardiac ICU for the next 24 hours to monitor his blood pressure. He will have another surgery on his laceration tomorrow. He is still sedated and on a ventilator but he is responsive. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. We love you all.

6/25/2018- update: HE IS EXTUBATED! Jacob had a second surgery on his laceration this morning. They were able to remove the wound vac and close the wound. Now we pray it heals with no complications or infection. He was extubated at 1225 with no problems!!! He is upset about his bike and the realization of all his injuries but otherwise doing very well. He is resting peacefully and will be moved from ICU tomorrow. Again thank you all for the thoughts and prayers!

6/26/2018- Jacob is being transferred from ICU this evening. We are having trouble managing pain. He is not getting much rest and is very restless in bed. Doctors still don't want him out of bed due to pelvic fracture. The doctor that just came in said he can have a regular diet which he is thrilled about because he is hungry! He is becoming more himself everyday. This girl is happy!
