Dear family and friends,
Our dear brother, David Tack, was diagnosed with melanoma in late 2016. In October of 2018 he underwent significant surgery on his neck to remove lymph nodes where the cancer had spread. Around that time he began updating those who wished to follow his journey on https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/davidtack. Dave has been undergoing immunotherapy biweekly as planned since November 2018 to try and fight the spread of this cancer.
On August 14, 2019, we received the very difficult news that the cancer has grown back in Dave’s neck and there is also evidence of it in his bones (left scapula, spine, and right femur). This puts the melanoma at stage 4. This news was devastating to all of us. We are daily pleading with the Lord to heal our brother. Dave and his loving wife, Heather, have 8 children. The youngest is only 3 years old, the two oldest just started commuting to college, and Heather is currently homeschooling the other five children.
Many people have been asking how they can help. You are all greatly appreciated! We are hoping to help supplement Dave's medical costs and fees as well as help them with meals and hopefully some time away. This will help Dave and his family to continue to fight this cancer with hope and strength. He is also dealing with a rotator-cuff injury which has caused significant pain and a loss of full use of his left shoulder.
For those that know Dave personally, they know he is generous. He has always been the one to be first to help others. He regularly has helped all of us, our mother, other family members, and many others in times of need. He has always been the one to offer help before he is asked.
Now it is our turn to show our brother how much we love and support him! While money cannot solve all the problems they are facing, it is a tangible way to help lessen some of the burdens they have. Even more, we hope that your love expressed shows Dave and Heather how dear they are to all of us and that their support network is strong!!
As expected, Dave’s faith is strong. While he is overwhelmed at times with such difficult circumstances, he is resolute to walk with Christ through this. He has long been an anchor of kindness, generosity, and faith in our family. It is no surprise that even in these circumstances, his primary concern is for others first, his family, and his faith.
