Help for a Hero

Several weeks ago a man wondered up into a small bar owned by my husband and myself. The Gentleman asked for a glass of water. He sat there quietly drinking his water and watching a little bit of a football game. I noticed he carried a backpack with him. I introduced myself and began talking with him. I learned that he is a disabled veteran living on the streets and had recently suffered a stroke. He is working to get benefits from the VA but it is a slow process. He is a very nice, God fearing gentleman who served our country.

He asked if he could wash our windows for a little bit of cash so that he could afford to go stay at the salvation army to get a shower. He did not have a set price for the job but asked for whatever it was worth to us. The next day, he went ahead and washed them before we arrived saying that it was just because we were so kind to him.

Everytime I have seen this man, his spirits  have been high and he was always willing to work for anything that he was given. He walks with a limp and uses crutches and has to walk everywhere he goes.

With it beginning to get cold, my husband and I decided to purchase a small home for him to stay in. It's nothing fancy by any means but it keeps him out of the elements. We have supplied him with blankets and a few essentials and have turned the power, gas and water on at the house.

I would like to ask anyone who can find it in their hearts to help out, please do so with a donation to help with the utilities in the home throughout the winter.

How the funds are used:
All funds are going into a designated checking account that will be used to provide this man with necessities. So far, funds have gone towards turning on the utilities, the purchase of food and acquiring a few items for the home. This separate account will only be used for these purposes.

Non-financial donations are also accepted and can be delivered to the following address
