Help Femi Graduate!!!!!

Hi guys! My name is Oluwafemi Ishola, from Lagos, Nigeria. I'm 22 years old, and I’m a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering at Oklahoma State University

My family and I have endured many struggles throughout that past year- struggles that have ultimately forced me to put my education on hold. I have to come up with $25,000 in the next month to clear my enrollment and bursar holds so I can enroll for the coming semester. I am just now posting this because I’ve exhausted other means to get it paid off. I hope you can help me out after hearing my story.

In 2011, when I was 16 years old, my family in Nigeria agreed to let me study in the United States when they heard of my admission to Oklahoma State University. I had never been out of the country, but my loving parents would do anything they could afford for me to receive a quality education. The first few years were fine and my parents easily paid my tuition and living expenses. However, once my junior year came around, the effects of inflation and Nigeria’s economic crisis finally took a toll on my family. Paying my tuition was a constant struggle and each bill took a longer amount of time to pay. This led me to enroll late several semesters and has pushed my expected graduation date back by a year.

I had been working a part-time job on campus for a few years but that was nowhere near enough money to pay bills and tuition. Also, as an international student I am not allowed to work outside of campus on a student visa nor am I allowed to work on-campus if I am not enrolled. And since I can’t pay my last semester's tuition, I cannot enroll, so I now cannot work and it seems as though my hands are tied.  I've tried to get a loan but I have no family or relatives that could co- sign,  and I'm also not eligible for any student loans because they don't extend to International students

This coming semester (Spring 2018) will be my last semester, if I can enroll. I hope you all can help my family and I through this difficult time, and help me achieve my educational goals and dreams.

About Me.

I love attending OSU and in my years here I've tried my best to be involved within the International community and the OSU community at large  to promote diversity on campus, as much as I can . I'm a member of the African Students Organization (serving as the Sports Co-coordinator), I served as a senator for the Student Government Association, and I also sat on the SGA Multicultural affairs committee for a year.

I am also a member of a number of Engineering student groups on campus, most notably; the Engineers without borders(EWB) , National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. These experiences and the people have helped me to become the person I am today, and I hope to soon graduate and begin working so I can give back to the community that has given so much to me.

I am also an avid soccer player and music lover. I am the choir leader at RCCG redemption City Stillwater. I listen to all genres of music and play the drums , bass guitar, and keyboard for my church choir.

My Goals

I have one more semester left to complete my undergraduate studies, after which I intend to pursue my masters in Industrial Engineering. My goal is to one day work for a Fortune 500 firm and move to  the business side of things and own a firm of my own, back in Nigeria, through which I can directly create jobs and impact my country's economy in a positive way. I want to go back to my home country and use my platform to empower the people who are an opportunity away from succeeding. I hope to give others an opportunity, like my parents gave me. Over the last few years I have struggled to make ends meet. I know there are many families and students going through similar situations, so a donation of any amount means so much. The only way I can achieve my goals is by finishing my education, and every penny goes a long way. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Femi
