Hurricane Michael made landfall on Wednesday afternoon in the Florida panhandle, leaving devastation in its wake. Bay County took the brunt of the storm.
My dearest friend Shaun was able to keep his fiancé and children safe thanks to evacuating to a sturdy house. Unfortunately, Shaun’s home has been completely decimated.
My name is Tracey. I met Shaun over 20 years ago at our high school in Port St. Joe, Florida. I’ve been blessed with his friendship ever since.
Shaun is a mental health counselor for a local community organization in Bay County. He also focuses on suicide prevention. Dominique is his fiancée. She is an incredible artist. Their two children are exceptional: bright, compassionate, and empathetic.
Shaun and his family now face the greatest test of their lives. It is not only one of survival, but of endurance.
As the power and water is slowly restored, a process which will take weeks to complete—and in some areas, longer—Shaun and his family need our help.
They lost every material possession but the clothes on their backs. The two children need clothing, toiletries, games, anything to return a sense of security and comfort. Shaun and Dominique also need material items, but the first priority is securing a place to live.
FEMA assistance will be very limited in scope and will be a long time coming. Still, Shaun will be returning to his work as soon as possible to provide desperately needed mental health services to people who have now experienced the unimaginable.
I am asking for your help. Shaun and his family are in dire need of your help. Please, give if you can and share this campaign. Shaun and Dominique and the children deserve a safe roof over their heads, food on the table, water to drink, and clothes to wear.
As Bay County begins the long and arduous process of recovery and restoration, we must give. The need is so great.
Please help get these kids into a new home. Help Dominique rebuild their lives. Help Shaun even as he prepares to work helping others.
