Keep Falak in school

We are a group of local parents in Harringay, North London and are shocked that 5 year old Falak, a little girl in Reception class at our children's school is being removed to Pakistan. Born in London, Falak has been part of a close-knit group of friends who are devastated that she is leaving. Both of Falak's parents have been significant members of our local community. Tayyba volunteered at our local Children's Centre, at school events, at the local GP's surgery and in local charity shops. As well as having had donations and support from hundreds of Harringay families and Londoners for Falak’s cause, the family has received letters of support the Head teacher at her school, as well as from David Lammy, our local MP.

In the year Falak was born in this country, back in Pakistan, 12 year old Malala was shot in the head for speaking out publicly about girl’s rights to education. Pakistan has the second largest number of girls not in school in the world. Most girls do not even start school, let alone finish it. In Pakistan, without help from us, Falak’s education may end prematurely; we cannot let this happen. And the family is adamant that Falak should stay in school, even if in Pakistan, the school fees alone will cost the family around £100 per month.

We have raised over £3,000 so far (including £2000 in cash) which will ensure that Falak can stay in school for two years in Pakistan. The family will spend all donations on Falak’s school fees, books, stationary and school bus fares which the family could not otherwise afford.

I am in direct contact with Falak's parents, Tayyba and Sahil, and donations will be delivered automatically to their bank account, usually within a week. We will continue to fundraise to ensure that Falak stays in school until she graduates. Every £100 we raise will ensure that Falak can go to school for another month.
