                                                                                           Help Ethan’s Stroke Recovery

The need?  To replace our son Ethan’s income and
help with his medical bills while he cannot work.

Ethan had a stroke on May 19.  He is 44 years old.

He is slowly recovering.  He has tremors in his right hand and right foot and pain down his right side.  His mental processing and physical movements are slow.  And his carotid artery is fully blocked.  The treatment plan for the artery is to wait six months and reevaluate.  It scares the hell out of us.  As best we understand, the risk of trying to clear it is too great for now.

He and his wife, Tracy, also have to deal with the emotional consequences of the stroke.  Ethan worries about the possibility of another stroke or something else happening.  He worries about money.  He is stressed and anxious about things small and large.  And he worries about the stress Tracy feels.  She doesn’t make enough money to support them.

Ethan’s doctors have told him not to go back to work.  He faithfully does the therapies prescribed but there is no timeline for his recovery.  Every stroke is different.  Every recovery is different.

Before his stroke, Ethan worked two part-time jobs — for a catering company and as a house painter.  He and Tracy are hard working.  They generally have multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet.  They don’t want to depend on others.  But for now, they know they don’t have much choice.  Ethan had no disability income insurance and their health insurance won’t cover all their medical bills.

Ethan and Tracy are giving people.  Multiple times they have put their lives on hold to care for others — Ethan’s grandmother and grandfather during their final weeks, Tracy’s mother during her final two years, going to Australia to help Tracy’s kids and grandkids, helping friends and helping us, my wife, Cheryl, and I, with tasks we can no longer do.

Cheryl and I are helping them financially but we know we can’t do it by ourselves.  Achieving the goal of this campaign would mean a minimal level of financial security for Ethan and Tracy during this most difficult year.  It’s about $26,000.

We realize you may have questions and we will be happy to try to answer them.

Please share our campaign with your network, on your social media, and wherever else you think someone might want to help.

Thank you,
