Help Dree Regain her Voice

For those of you who know Dree, she is one of the most hardworking singer/songwriters in Los Angeles and a very big part of the music community here. She teaches dance,  pilates, yoga and music lessons, and has supported countless shows in the area. She spends her spare time working at the Canoga Park Improvement Association, a non-profit that revitalizes the area and supports local businesses.  I’ve known her for about 5 years and I can say that she is very determined, kind, caring and inspiring to the people around her. I’ve always admired the message she spreads in her music of celebrating individuality and following your dreams! 

 I’ve created this page because she needs our help with vocal surgery in order to continue working full time as a singer/songwriter. Please read her story below to find out how you can contribute. 



DREE’S VOCAL INJURY 

Four years ago, Dree went to an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat Doctor)  for trouble with her voice after being sick multiple times during that year. There, she found out that she had lumps on her vocal chords which made singing almost impossible, created fatigue, and decreased her singing range. She’s been able to manage the injury up until now with medications, and therapy sessions, while still being able to gig. However, in April, the condition worsened and she developed a polyp on the right side of her vocal cord making singing extremely difficult. 

According to her doctor Reena Gupta, it was determined that surgery is the ONLY way to get rid of the polyp once and for all. She was told that without this operation,  she would not be able to pursue singing at a professional level. 

This vocal injury has been very heartbreaking for Dree and myself because I have watched her work SO HARD to build her singing and songwriting career from the ground up over the past 10 years. This health complication is threatening to Dree’s livelihood because without her voice,  she can’t work and make money to support herself. She should not have to give up her dreams of being a singer because of a medical complication. The only obstacle that’s in the way at this point is coming up with the funds to pay for the costly operation.

THE PLAN

Any donation you make goes towards the initial cost of $8100 for the surgery.  Dree would like to do the surgery on Sept 4th 2019 at the Osborne Head and Neck Institute at Cedars Sinai. Recovery takes 4 weeks, so she wouldn’t be able talk or sing during this time. 

She would also need money to cover living expenses during this time she can’t work. For the 4 weeks she would need $3,000. The TOTAL COST of surgery and recovery would be $11,100.

The sooner we can reach this final goal, the sooner Dree  can get back to a normal life!
