Help Dewayne Edge Beat Cancer

Dewayne Edge is the kind of person who always goes to great lengths to put a smile on the faces of those around him.  Whether it’s through some of the raunchiest jokes imaginable or through his willingness to give the shirt off his back when someone is in need.  Unfortunately, right now, those jokes take more effort and this time Dewayne is the one in need.


After several months of dealing with what was thought to be sinus and throat infections, doctors performed biopsies and confirmed it was exactly what Dewayne had hoped it wasn’t; Cancer. Stage IV cancer of his sinuses and throat. 


As Dewayne was coming to grips with the reality of navigating the difficult road ahead, he began down the path of starting treatment, which included full body scans to see if the cancer has spread.  It had.  Scans revealed growths in Dewayne’s lungs, more tests and more visits to specialists confirmed the cancer had spread.


Now Dewayne faces a treatment plan that includes 7 to 8 weeks of Chemotherapy (some days with treatments as long as 7 hours), Radiation Therapy, steroids, pain killers, and cocktails of other drugs prescribed by the doctors, with the possibility of surgery needed in the future.  Due to the unfortunate location of the cancer, the treatments will be brutal and make the most basic of bodily functions such as breathing, eating and drinking nearly impossible.  For the next several months, he’ll be getting much of his nutrition through a feeding tube which has been surgically inserted through his abdomen and stomach.   


In addition to the pain and challenges of the treatments themselves, Dewayne and his partner Betsy now also face the impossible challenge and stress of paying for these treatments, travelling to and from the treatment facilities several days a week for months, as well as all of the additional special care supplies and nutritional supplements he’ll need just to get through everything.  These are terrible and insurmountable costs to their very tight and fixed income. Anything collected through this campaign will be delivered directly to Dewayne and Betsy to help them get through this tough time.
