Help Dane Finish His Journey

Scooter Accident in Bali (1 month in of a 6+ month journey)

on October 18th 2018, Dane & I embarked on a self discovery journey overseas to South East Asia. Over the past few years, we often would find ourselves exploring developing nations to gain the perspective of a different way of life, lives that could have easily been ours if born to a different family and under different circumstances. We've grown a child-like desire to see the world in an unbiased and unfiltered way; through our own eyes.

Dane is my dearest friend, I've known him for a little over 7 years.. If you know me, odds are that you know Dane or know of him! My friend, turned first love, turned business partner, turned travel buddy and Dog-Dad to our baby Henry.. He is one of the kindest men that I have the privilege of knowing, selfless, loyal, dependable and a huge lover of life. Watching his growth of the past few years has been nothing short of extraordinary and heart warming. He's one of the only people, aside from family, that I can say has never left my side or has not ever questioned my process of self growth.

After a little over 1 month of traveling throughout Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam we arrived in Bali on December 4th. Dane, inspired by his father, wanted to pursue a career in scuba-diving and we decided that Bali would be the perfect place for him to complete Dive Instructor and for myself to explore the realms of mindfulness. Bali would be our home base for the next few months.

On December 5th, Dane got into a scooter accident, crashing straight on to a stone wall. We rushed to the nearest hospital to find out that his Patella bone (kneecap) was split into two pieces. He needed surgery immediately, or would never be able to walk on his right leg again. Without insurance, the surgery + hospital time totaled $6000, roughly the amount of money we both collectively budgeted to last us over 3 months in Bali and to cover the cost of his schooling. We opted for the surgery.

It is now December 7th, surgery went well and dane is in recovery. He will need to spend the next few weeks on bedrest and the next 2-3 months after that using crutches to walk. He will need monthly X-rays for the next 5 months and weekly physical therapy sessions. He will also need another surgery 1 year from now, to remove wires inside of his leg that are helping the bones to mend back together.

Fortunately and thankfully we did have the money available to pay for his surgery, however, it has left us with very little to survive off of and to continue our journey. Dane was just a few days away from starting his Dive courses and is now much farther away from getting his certification and being able to get a job. We are asking for help, to cover the cost of the surgery and/or to help us get back on track with our mission and to further fund Danes recovery.

How this money will help:
Cost of Surgery + nights in the hospital
Cost of Physical Therapy
Cost of Monthly Hospital visits over the next few months
Cost of living
Cost to continue dive courses once healed

I really appreciate the time that you took to read this, it means the world to us. We are asking for help, with all of our hearts. If you can't donate, please share with your friends.

Being in your early 20s, you'll find that your views and outlook on life can be easily shaped by your surroundings. Dane & I are making a conscious effort, to see the world and to create a life for ourselves that is meaningful and impactful. I hope that you can relate.
