Help Trees4 Moz restore cyclone damaged forest

TREES4MOZ NEEDS HELP TO RESTORE CYCLONE-DAMAGED NHAMACOA FOREST IN MOZAMBIQUE
Cyclone IDAI hit our little Nhamacoa Forest with terrible force in the early hours of Friday 15 March 2019 and caused considerable damage to this vulnerable little indigenous forest, as well as our home. Over 200 large trees were uprooted and thrown crashing to the ground, as well as countless smaller trees. Branches were splintered and broken and the leaves of the trees have shriveled up, dried and fallen off well before winter.
As Trees4Moz grows indigenous trees to reforest barren areas in the Nhamacoa Forest to give wild animals a home, this has been a huge set back and something of an ecological disaster.
Most of the animals that live in this unique little forest make their home in the trees; animals such as the endangered Samango monkeys, as well as the Vervets and Bush babies. The forest is also home to a great number of birds, some rare, as well as many reptiles, some of which are on the IUCN Red List in South Africa as “near threatened”.
The Nhamacoa Forest is the last refuge for these animals that fled into its trees when their habitat was destroyed by human activity. They have nowhere else to go. So, it is essential that we start to repair and restore the damage done to their forest as soon as possible. As clearing up the wreckage and growing more trees to replace the ones that have been destroyed will be costly and beyond our means, we are going to need some help with funding. If you would like to help us with the restoration of our forest for our beautiful and endangered animals, we would appreciate it very much.
