Help Cover Christo's ALS Expenses

Hello my friend!

If you have a few minutes I would love to introduce you to my father – Christo. For those of you who don’t know this wonderful man; my father has been a strong leader and warrior for Christ since he was a young adult.  God sure has mapped out an incredibly journey for him. To many who know his story his life might seem like a collection of insurmountable obstacles and challenges, but to him every step of his life has been the building blocks of his faith and the foundation of a man I am so honored to call my DAD. For those of you who are so fortunate to know him well, you know he is such a loving, yet a strong man in mind, body and faith & spirit.

My dad has been an amazing father to my brother and I, and I’ll say, an even better Oupa to his grandkids.  He has given us opportunities and life he never had as a child.  He is and has also been a sucessful entrepreneur his entire life and the provider and loving husband to my mom for the past 40+ years. But you see, at the end of the day all these accolates don’t seem to matter.  As we realize in May of 2016, this disease called ALS does not discriminate, good or bad - because my amazing Dad got diagnosed with ALS.

Witnessing first hand and hearing peoples stories - ALS is one of the most heartbreaking  journeys to go through. It takes all dignity and impacts, attacks and debilitates patients and families on so many levels. To top it of ALS is also one of the most debilitating and costly diagnosis to treat – with no seemingly good outcome.

ALS (Amyotophic lateral sclerosis) or otherwise know as Lou Gehrig’s Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord and continues by spreading through the nervous system to the rest of the muscles in the body. The progression of apoptosis, aka dying nerve cells, eventually spreads throughout the ALS patients body and leads to complete paralyses and ultimately loss of all physical bodily functions.

In just a few short months since my fathers diagnosis his health has been declining at a rapid rate. Unfortunately, we are running against time to get him the proper care, and resources he so desperately needs.

You might remember the ALS ice bucket challenge, which brought a ton of awareness and fundraising for ALS research, but unfortunately NO CURE - YET.  Therefore, it is absolutely iniment that we raise the funds for him so he can receive the necessary care and resources he needs to battle this disease.

I will be completely honest, it is incredibly hard  to witness the progression of this disease and share about this diagnosis - Not to mention the overwhelming thought of the financial burden involved to take care of someone so very dear to us. So, it is with extrememly broken hearts that God has reminded us that this yoke is to heavy for us to carry alone.

Our family is therefore humbly asking for your financial support.  We know that money won’t necessarily change the outcome of this disease like our hearts desire.  However, during this time, as bills, medical equipment cost, travel fees, a new handicap vehicle, and remodeling parts of the house to be wheelchair accessible is upon us, and continuous professional care is eminent;  we are asking if you would please support my dad & mom financially.

Lastly, our family would just like to express our overwhelming sense of gratitude.  We are so thankful for all the love and emotional support we have received so far.

We would continue to ask if you could please share My Father - Christo’s story to raise awareness & necessary funds, and most importantly PLEASE PRAY for him My amazing mom and our family during this time.  We are so very blessed God has placed amazing people in our lives for love and support for a time such as this.

Our love,

The Kotze Family
