Meals on Wheels in Cohoes!

As part of the Cohoes Center Center’s annual drive we have set up this Go Fund Me campaign to help us reach more of our community.Senior hunger is on the rise in our community and we need your help to stop it.  One in six seniors in America face food insecurity and hunger, and the number continues to grow every year.  Yet, funding for our local Meals on Wheels program is on the decline.  Each year Cohoes Senior Center relies on the generosity of the community to help cover the gap so that we can continue serving the frailest and most vulnerable seniors in the area.

Meals on Wheels is so much more than a meal. At the core of this program is a nutritious meal that equips seniors with the nutrition they need to help them remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible.  But what people often fail to realize is that Meals on Wheels also provides companionship and a watchful eye on the health and safety of our area seniors.  For many seniors, the trusted Meals on Wheels volunteer or staff member who delivers a hot meal and a warm smile may be the only person they see or speak with all day, helping to decrease feelings of isolation and depression, and providing social interaction critical to maintaining good health and well-being. 

Again this year we ask you to share a part of your heart through a donation to our Meals on Wheels program so that no senior in this community goes hungry.

Your support is the sustenance that keeps meals on the tables of so many of our elderly neighbors.

What your dollars fund:
$7.25 will fund a holiday meal for a local senior

$5 will fund a second daily meal for a local senior

$10.50 will fund an emergency food box for a local senior which includes two non-perishable meals and water.

$25 will fund a week's worth of second daily meals for a local senior

$50 will feed a senior for a week

$100 will feed a local senior for two weeks

$250 will feed a local senior for six weeks

$500 will feed a local senior for 3 months.
