Help Clif Whitley Get Back On The Road

On Monday, April 29th, Clif fell in the yard and landed on the driveway on his back. Having a high pain tolerance and being used to some back pain, he didn't think his injury was serious. By mid-day Tuesday he realized this was more severe than he thought.
We went to a local ER and were transferred on Wednesday to Piedmont Atlanta. He had fractured T9 and T10 that required surgery. They scheduled it for Friday to give his blood thinner time to get out of his system. Thursday night, the surgery became an emergency situation as he suddenly lost feeling from his hips down.
The Thursday night surgery was successful in stabilizing his spine, but he was left with an open space between the two vertebrae. A second surgery was performed on Sunday, May 5th. They added a titanium expander and used part of a rib to fill the space.
We have been blessed to get him into one of the best rehabilitation hospitals in the country, Shepherd Center , to give him the best shot of a full recovery. He is scheduled to be transferred there on Monday, May 13.
He is still waiting for the feeling to return in his legs and we have a long road ahead. We have full confidence he will recover with the help of prayer and therapy at Shepherd. He has a great attitude and is still being Clif and giving nurses and docs a dose of his "big personality." They leave the room smiling every time they visit.
We are so grateful for all of the support we have received so far. We have been shown just how big and beautiful our village is.
