Help Christiana Replace Her Bike

You scan the parking lot frantically looking for your vehicle. You walk to the place you last parked it. ... It's not there. You keep looking, but it's nowhere. Your heart is beating so loud you can hear it ... the feeling of terror and helplessness hits you like a flash-flood. It starts to sink in: SOMEONE STOLE YOUR RIDE. You are stranded ...

Happen to you?

Well, it happened to me!

Hi! I'm Christiana and my sister is Cooper. That's us ... (Last year at our school dance.)

We're both 13, just 2 months and 31" apart ... and lately, we've been looking for ways to be more independent and responsible. So ... last Sunday we asked Mom if we could ride to Columbine Library go to the "DIY Zombify Yourself" workshop.  We were EXCITED!!

The excursion was going to take us about 40 mins, ONE WAY ... I was riding, Cooper was driving (her wheelchair, that is) .... but it ended up taking a bit longer than expected and we missed the entire class. We were frustrated! :(

We browsed around for a little bit and then realized it was time to head home. We walked out to get my bike and it was GONE! Someone had stolen my bike. I was shocked!! I was scared ... we were going to be sooo late getting home and Mom was going to be disappointed. I felt terrible!

You see ... my bike is how I get to where I need to go. I ride it to school each day, to the shopping center down the street, to the pool and to the bank. No bike = No freedom.

Mom said she has an extra one for me ... my 9-year-old sister grew out of it two years ago. It'll work. Beggars can't be choosers, I know ... but I'm 5'5" and my knees hit the handle bars when I pedal.

I may fit right in with all the teenage boys riding tiny bikes, but I really would like one my size. But until that happens, if you see me riding down Pierce Street on a powder pink one speed ... give me a honk, a smile and a wave!

Thanks for watching our interview on Fox 31 ... and for reading my story.

P.S. Want to know more about Cooper and the wheelchair that saved my bacon last Sunday? You can read all about them at www.GoFundMe.com/Operation-DC-or-Bust.

** Since I am fully funded on my bike page, all remaining donations will be applied to our Operation: D.C. or Bust page (link above). Again, thank you!
