Help Charisse recover from tragedy

Donation protected
Charisse Janke was in a bad accident Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at about 8:30 a.m. in Minnesota. She was riding on the back of Jerrad Quenomoen's motorcycle. They were leading a group of about five motorcycles on a highway and four miles from Charisse's house. They came to an intersection where the cross-traffic has a stop sign. A sedan blew the sign and Jerrad and Charisse took the full impact. Jerrad died at the scene. Jerrad is the father of Alex and Reed, Charisse's two boys. Charisse was taken by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. She has a long list of injuries. The most serious are multiple skull fractures, bleeding on the brain, and bruised lungs. She also has multiple broken bones in her face. We've been told nearly every bone in her face is broken, including her jaw, eye sockets, and some inside her mouth. She also has a broken back (no spinal injury), ribs, left wrist, left femur and leg, right leg above the ankle, exposed knee joint and torn ligaments. She has multiple scratches, cuts, and road rash of varying degrees. At least one doctor has said she is lucky to be alive. He said most people he sees in her condition either die at the scene of the accident or soon after arriving at the emergency room. She has already endured several surgeries, including to repair her wrist, femur, and tibia. She will soon be having her jaw wired shut and a tracheotomy for the breathing tube (a tracheotomy is a hole cut into the throat for breathing rather than a tube through her nose or mouth). We don't know how many more surgeries she will need. She will likely go through months of rehab and recovery. This GoFundMe is focused directly on Charisse and her children to help with months of rehab and recovery, both physical and emotional. Charisse will need the presence and support of her brothers, sister, mother, and family, and it is important for us to focus on her recovery. Donations will be used for: Alex and Reed's living expenses: food, school clothes and shoes, school activities, etc., and travel to visit mom in the hospital in Minneapolis Charisse's bills: house payment, car payment, insurance, phone, etc., including expenses resulting from this accident Continuing medical/therapy not covered by insurance We want to thank the Second Brigade Motorcycle Company for the emotional support they have provided throughout the last few days. We want to recognize the United Steelworkers Union for the excellent insurance plan Charisse has through her employer. Since Charisse is currently unable to do so, withdrawals from this GoFundMe account will be made by Charisse's brother, Ryan Janke, and will be directly deposited from GoFundMe into Charisse's personal checking account.
