Help Casey Make This 8 Second Ride

On March 5th, 2018 Casey went to the Huntsman Center for a routine follow up appointment from his Bladder Cancer. This would have been the appointment that cleared him for a year. Just as he was about to leave, his Dr. noticed a few spots on his right lung. He felt that they were reason for concern and scheduled a biopsy for the following Friday. On Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 we got the dreaded phone call letting us know that indeed his cancer was back. We met with his new Dr. & she provided a lot of answers for us. They explained that what had most likely happened was before they removed his bladder, some cancer cells had "escaped". Those cells had not attached to anything before now & that is why they had been undetected.  At the time of his 1st surgery when his bladder was removed, the Dr. felt very confident that they did not need to do any chemo because none of the lymph nodes or cells they tested showed any signs of cancer.

We feel very blessed that his Dr.'s were able to see the spots on his lung at this appointment because if they had not have found them it probably would have went undetected until his next checkup. Which would not have been a year down the road. So what does this mean? It means that Casey has Metastatic Bladder Cancer that has attached to his right lung. His treatments are on an outpatient basis. He will have 6 courses of treatments every 3 weeks until we are finished sometime in July.  (Friday = full treatment, next Friday = 1/2 treatment, and the following Friday = off). It is not curable but very treatable. They will scan him every 3 months for the next several years to make sure that if anything new shows up the Dr.'s can treat it immediately.

Casey started chemotherapy on Friday, March 30th. So far he's had some superficial blood clots in his arm and he says the chemo burns like HELL when it goes in!!! The only other side effect that he's had is extreme fatigue.

Casey has tried his best to go to work and work through his chemo treatments but a lot of the time it's just too much. Because he has still been recovering from his 1st battle with Cancer he has very little sick time built up with his employer. He's already worried enough about his cancer let alone going to work to try to pay their monthly living expenses. If you could find it in your hearts to help Casey and his family by donating anything to help cover their monthly expenses while he's going through this battle with Cancer it would be greatly appreciated.

We love you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the thoughts and prayers that you have sent our way!!!!!!!
