Carson is a beautiful, sweet, loving, happy little two year old boy. Over the past few months we had seen some changes in him, he had lost his appetite, was losing weight, was a little moody, would cry randomly, was very clingy to his mama and eventually seemed to be in some sort of pain.

Julie, for over a month, knew something was very wrong with our once happy, carefree little boy. She kept taking him to doctors appointment after doctors appointment, where the doctors would tell her that while they felt some hard knots in his tummy, that they thought it was poo and that he just needed some miralax. Finally, in the early morning hours of July 26th Carson woke up vomiting profusely. Julie and Tim (Carson's daddy) ran him to the emergency room at Randall's Children's Hospital and that day their world came crashing down.

Carson was diagnosed with cancer. He had a large mass in his tummy.

It took days for more information to come. Carson had to endure ultrasounds, blood draws, urine cultures, MRIs, CT Scans, a tumor biopsy, a bone marrow biopsy, a nuclear scan, blood transfusions, etc. etc.

On Friday the 28th it was confirmed, Carson had Stage IV, High Risk Neuroblastoma. The cancer was in his bone marrow, his bones had lesions from head to toe and the mass in his tummy wrapped from one side of his back to the other. The mass also wrapped itself around the main vein in his tummy, so that made it immediately inoperable.

The doctors have told us Carson will go through the most intense, aggressive treatment plan there is. He will have 6 rounds of chemo, stem cell transplants, radiation, immune therapy, and much more.

On Monday the 31st Carson had his double Hickman port installed and started his first round of chemo. It's made him very nauseous, but other than that he's been in good spirits. His blood pressure is skyrocketing, his heartbeat is through the roof and his oxygen levels are very low. He's not stable at this point, but the doctors are working diligently to help him and so are his parents.

Tim has taken leave from work through FMLA, but since they are a one income household you can imagine the financial impact this is having on them. We have created this gofundme to help cover any expenses they have during this time. It's going to be approx 2 years of treatment for Carson. We know it will be extremely expensive, so any and every donation is greatly appreciated. We also have a donation account set up at US Bank for those of you who would prefer that.

Please pray for Carson, keep him in your prayers, he needs all the love, support and well wishes that you can provide!

Thank you,
Auntie Chels

On behalf of the family, Thank you all so much for your prayers and support I know the kids are very worried about how they are going to make it through this next 40 days of inpatient treatment. The food at Doernbecher Hospital is extremely expensive when they have no income. Meals for Mom and Dad conservatively work out to be approximately $80.00 per day, and that's if they get nothing to drink. So I know that every penny is appreciated so very much. This treatment is so extreme, they said Carson will most likely get VOD which is veno-occlusive disease. It will cause his kidneys to shut down requiring him to be on dialysis in the PICU. It will likely affect his liver. He will also have all the previous complications, mucositis, esophagitis and everything else that goes along with this instense 2nd round of Stem Cell transplant. Just this last week, they had to spend an entire day at Doernbecher so that they could get blood from Carson every 1/2 hour. This was to determine how much Chemo they could give him without taking his life. We pray that the testing was done accurately and are terrified of this up coming admission. Please, please continue your prayers. Each time Carson has had to go through all of this horrible treatment, God has answered our prayers giving him the strength needed to continue. We are kicking cancers but one day at a time. God bless you all!

Hi everyone -

It’s been quite some time since we last updated and since yesterday Carson turned 3 years old, we thought it would be nice to give everyone a quick update on his progress.

Carson has finished 4 rounds of chemo and just got out of the hospital. He was there for over a week with a fungal infection and mucositis. This is the second time Carson has had this and each time it’s so hard to watch him so miserable; fighting fevers, chills, unable to eat or drink, and in such intense pain. Thankfully as I mentioned Carson was able to come home on Friday just in time for his birthday! He celebrated in true Carson style with an awesome Rapunzel cake!

Carson is battling every single day. His bravery and strength never cease to amaze us.

He still has a LONG journey ahead of him; additional chemo treatments, surgery to de-mass his tumor, stem cell transplant, radiation, clinical trials and immunotherapy.

We try to keep Carson’s Facebook page updated as much as possible, please follow his journey there; www.facebook.com/carsonsprayerwarriors. Thank you all for your well wishes, gifts, cards, participation/donations to our fundraisers. You truly have no idea what that means to us.

Please continue to keep Carson and his family in your prayers.

Update from Carson's Uncle John:

Carson still won't take meds or drink. It appears his mouth and throat are hurting very bad. He refuses to even swallow his saliva. If something doesn't change by morning he is going back to the hospital. Please continue praying for our little guy.

Carson finished his first week of chemo Friday so and he was doing well enough to come home last night. He will be home for 2 weeks. He had a little bit of a rough night but at the same time he asked for peanut butter & jelly in the middle of the night

He has had a great appetite this morning and has been drinking lots of fluids. He's loving him some chicken nuggets and French fries right now

He has been asking to walk alot which is great. He requires assistance to be able to walk right now because he is still weak and very wobbly.
