Carson is a beautiful, sweet, loving, happy little two year old boy. Over the past few months we had seen some changes in him, he had lost his appetite, was losing weight, was a little moody, would cry randomly, was very clingy to his mama and eventually seemed to be in some sort of pain.

Julie, for over a month, knew something was very wrong with our once happy, carefree little boy. She kept taking him to doctors appointment after doctors appointment, where the doctors would tell her that while they felt some hard knots in his tummy, that they thought it was poo and that he just needed some miralax. Finally, in the early morning hours of July 26th Carson woke up vomiting profusely. Julie and Tim (Carson's daddy) ran him to the emergency room at Randall's Children's Hospital and that day their world came crashing down.

Carson was diagnosed with cancer. He had a large mass in his tummy.

It took days for more information to come. Carson had to endure ultrasounds, blood draws, urine cultures, MRIs, CT Scans, a tumor biopsy, a bone marrow biopsy, a nuclear scan, blood transfusions, etc. etc.

On Friday the 28th it was confirmed, Carson had Stage IV, High Risk Neuroblastoma. The cancer was in his bone marrow, his bones had lesions from head to toe and the mass in his tummy wrapped from one side of his back to the other. The mass also wrapped itself around the main vein in his tummy, so that made it immediately inoperable.

The doctors have told us Carson will go through the most intense, aggressive treatment plan there is. He will have 6 rounds of chemo, stem cell transplants, radiation, immune therapy, and much more.

On Monday the 31st Carson had his double Hickman port installed and started his first round of chemo. It's made him very nauseous, but other than that he's been in good spirits. His blood pressure is skyrocketing, his heartbeat is through the roof and his oxygen levels are very low. He's not stable at this point, but the doctors are working diligently to help him and so are his parents.

Tim has taken leave from work through FMLA, but since they are a one income household you can imagine the financial impact this is having on them. We have created this gofundme to help cover any expenses they have during this time. It's going to be approx 2 years of treatment for Carson. We know it will be extremely expensive, so any and every donation is greatly appreciated. We also have a donation account set up at US Bank for those of you who would prefer that.

Please pray for Carson, keep him in your prayers, he needs all the love, support and well wishes that you can provide!

Thank you,
Auntie Chels

UPDATE!!!!!!! It’s confirmed, Carson will be undergoing surgery tomorrow for a bowel obstruction. It’s a risky surgery and so we need all the prayers. Please send them our way and keep Carson in your thoughts. We have been told he will likely have a slow recovery and then his final immunotherapy treatment following his recovery. We’re looking at a couple more weeks in the hospital currently if not more.

If financially you are able to help keep us afloat we would appreciate it so much. Thank you so so much!

Hello Friends -

Well, we’ve officially made it past the one year mark. It’s been one year since our sweet boy was diagnosed with this evil disease. It’s been one year that he has endured surgeries, sedations, pricks, posts, tests, nausea, severe pain, confusion, sadness and being scared. Through it all, through all the trauma this disease has put him through, there is still this amazing kid. A kid that is funny, sweet, loving, smart, inquisitive, silly and beautiful. He’s been through so much, stuff that would break even the strongest man. Not only has he survived it, he’s thrived. He hasn’t slowed down one single bit, he’s learning more and more daily and we could not be more proud of Carson.

This has by far been the hardest year we’ve ever endured, and hopefully will ever have to endure. The positives here are that Carson is doing well, he’s responding to treatment. We are hopeful that August 31st is our last hospital stay for some time, although we will have to finish some treatment at home. Currently, we take things in baby steps, next step would be to finish up treatment and to find out his scans are clear! We cannot wait to hear those words.

For now, I am updating you all to let you know that we’re still here fighting. Financially, it’s been very difficult, but we have appreciated all your support and all you have done for our family.

We are not out of the woods, we are currently inpatient and have to be again a couple weeks after this round. It’s expensive to be here in the hospital and we could definitely use some support. If you can do anything to help us, it’s greatly appreciated. It’s hard to put yourself out there and ask people to help, but it’s our only option for now, until we are done with treatment and can get back on our feet. Thank you so much!

Hi Family, Friends and Supporters -

I wanted to stop by and give a quick update on Carson. He successfully finished his radiation last week. He was such a ROCKSTAR throughout the whole thing. His spirits were up, he didn’t let nausea or pain affect him, he dominated throughout. He did such a great job! We are so proud of our guy.

Tomorrow he is being admitted for immunotherapy. This is 148 days (I think!) of primarily inpatient treatment. This stage of the treatment process there are so many unknowns. This treatment will be very hard on his frail little body. We are asking that out prayer warriors keep praying hard and strong for him that he makes it through with little to no complications.

The family is once again asking for your support, spiritually and financially. Mom’s car insurance is due this month - $1000 for 6 months of coverage. Dad’s insurance has been due, another $1000. Unfortunately, these have been put on the back burner as during this short break we’ve been trying to provide Carson with some fun experiences, he needed summer clothes and then just the day to day expenses. On top of all this, once again mom, dad and Carson are going to be inpatient which requires basically “hotel living” ... where food, etc. gets pretty expensive.

We are by no means finished, but we feel like we’re nearing the finish line. We just need another big push of support from our friends and family to make it through. Mom and dad truly do appreciate everything and will be forever grateful.

Also, if you know of any organizations that provide financial support, it would be amazing if you could share.

The last thing we want to do is have Julie and Tim struggle or feel like a burden. They need to be focused on Carson. We can all come together and help them kick cancers butt!

Thank you,
Team Carson

Thank you everyone for your support this far. A quick update on where Carson is currently at in his treatment. We elected to not do the second stem-cell transplant. After much thought, prayer and consultation with other cancer families and our care-team, our gut was telling us that it wasn’t the right choice for Carson. To be blunt, we were concerned that he wouldn’t make it through. The next step, which starts on Monday is radiation. We will spending the next several weeks in the hospital daily. Carson will likely have nausea, fatigue and be in quite a bit of pain.

We have a couple large expenses coming up including the 6 month renewal for both cars, which is a couple thousand dollars. We also have to consider that much of our days for the next few weeks are going to be in the hospital which will be costly itself having to travel back and forth and food for us and Carson while were there.

We are truly appreciative of all the financial help we’ve been given thus far. And as hard as it is to ask people for money, it’s unfortunately the only way people can really “help” us now.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
